He would be pretty awesome. I think he works well as a Vulcan or a Romulan as well.

You can't use Terry O'Quinn because of the canon violation!
But James Cromwell, David Warner, Vaughn Armstrong, and Jeffrey Combs wouldn't be out of the question?
All of those played only one human role, and were hidden behind tons of alien make up during their other appearances. So O'Quinn would have to play an alien.
And Brock Peters played two humans, as did Robert Duncan McNeill, therefore your point is nullified. :P

Hey, look. It's Tom Paris and Nick Locarno. Or is it Nick Locarno and Tom Paris?

And I guess Admiral Cartwright changed his name and became a fry cook?

It's amazing how much energy people invest into disproving a purely sarcastic statement.

I think I mentioned elsewhere in this thread that he's actually a big Trek fan - it inspired him to be an actor. He mentioned this to his Fringe writers, who also happened to be writing Trek, but sadly after the movie was cast. Apparently they said something along the lines of 'If only you'd told us, we had a part you would have been perfect for.' My bet is still Captain Robau.

Personally speaking, I was having fun with it. I'm especially pleased with myself as I found pictures where both characters were posed in almost the exact same way.

Michael Chiklis as sort of the new-yorky veteran captain or Robert Patrick as the stoic strong leader.

I've seen Robert Patrick in several different productions and he has a talent with accents.

Perhaps he could play a Captain of British descent, who mysteriously possesses a French accent?

Lol, now then what is the equivalent of "Jean-Luc Picard" in old english? "Sir Timothy Wellington", speaking perfect Parisian of course.

In all seriousness I think a British accent captures that stoic, leaderlike quality. French? Condescending, insulting and contentious. German? Technical and domineering. Russian? Depressing and negative. I think the next captain might as well have a Spainish(Spain) accent! Besides the British, one could argue that the Spanish have the most illustrious naval history, both exploratorily and militarily. Who best then to represent humanity on the final frontier than an eloquent, classly Spaniard?

How about Brendan Fraser? He'd be 44 by 2012.
An interesting idea, and he'd lend a bit of "cheek" to the character.

Re: Who would you want to play the captain in Trek series 6

Just scanned the thread and don't think ive seen Jada Pinkett Smith's name mentioned.

She would be perfect because i think she desperately wants to get her teeth stuck into something substantial and she would bring so much conviction to the role. Plus she's a tough girl and could convincingly kick butt. She's also got beautiful green hazel eyes which look great on screen. I think she could bring forth alot of character to the show. She'd be great. Plus "woman can drive" as we seen her as Niobe in the matrix. She's 40 yrs old now, a great age i think for a youngish captain. If the series is 5 yrs off she'd be 45.

With her being a young black female captain pushes the envelope again and with her street attitude she can bring a new tougher dimension to the captain role.
