I'll agree there... the escort ships do need some new models, they look ugly even on high quality graphics... could have been a lot better...

I've seen a few of the Sovereign class ships that you get at Admiral (i think) and they look pretty cool... tempted to wait though and see which level the Vesta class comes out for...

Still not sure where they're going to put it... i'm assuming it's going to be science division, as that makes the most sense for it, but also could fit in exploration cruiser...

oh well, here's hoping CBS pull their finger out and get it authorised ASAP lol... i know a lot of people are waiting for the Odyssey class to hit the line, and i'll admit it's pretty... but gotta be Vesta class for me

I've been playing for a few days and am now in the fleet (), but I'm totally clueless as to what I should be doing. I played WoW for four years and it was so much more... straight forward, I suppose? I'm just lost in this game. Hopefully someone can help me figure it out soon?

should be able to click the star trek Delta symbol on the right by the map, bring up Episodes, and play your way through a few missions to get you going. If you see anyone around, feel free to ask questions, or I'd be willing to team up on a few missions with you (sure others will too)

Its the one involving Devidians and some comet. I honestly don't even remember them, but the last mission was scary. And its very rare to find truly scary stuff in MMOs.

Oh and I made a second character, a Betazoid Doctor, to try out the science ships.

ok seriously getting my ass kicked in the Hobus system...

can't even scratch the IRW Sithesh... unloaded 4 sets of photons towards it and 6 phaser banks, none of which even scratched it's shields... tried the mission 5 times now, all with the same result... fire fire, shields down, fire fire, dead...

I'll try to get on in a little bit, if you're still around, to help out. I just did the hobus system last night on my science alt.

Just don't know when, my sister had all her teeth pulled so I'm taking care of her and her two kids, add in the Vicodin and I'm taking care of three kids.

Fire Weapons - 2 x Phaser Array Mk VII, 2 x Photon Torphedo Mk VII

Aft Weaposn - 3 x Phaser Array Mk VII

Shields - Covariant Shield Array Mk VI

Tactical Consoles - Prefire Chamber Mk VI (+8.8 all energy damage), Directed Energy Distribution Maniforld Mk IV (+7.5 all energy damage)

And with all that, i can't even bring one ships shields down, let alone scratch the hull... either something is seriously wrong with my weapons, or i've found a big bug in the game

Most likely it's a power problem; either you're not putting enough energy into weapons, or you're running out of energy too fast with five beams.

I personally would have one less beam in the back; either another torp to discourage tailgaters, or a mine launcher.

Some better engineering consoles could help with that, too.

Also, are you remembering to come out of full impulse well before you come into range? It drains all your power, you need to allow time for that to come back up before you engage.

ok i'll try removing a rear phaser and replacing it with something else...

yeah i always come out of full impulse about the 20km mark to give everything time to recharge...

I took a closer look of the types from STO wiki:
it seems that as far as escorts are concerned, the ugliest ships are in the Lt.Commander and Captain levels. On the Commander lever there is some nice ones, like Akira and Oslo ones.

Methos, maybe you should visit the Spacedock and see if you could get some other weapons to replace some of the phaser banks. I bought a dual-phaser bank today. Could not afford to anything else yet.
I am going to post my ship schematic later, if I manage to make an screencap

Really? Captain Escort ugly? You are talking about the Defiant class there!!!

by the way, teh Saber Class is actually canon and can be seen during the Dominion War apparently...

I believe that it also has a cameo in First Contact during the battle against the Borg.

It was actually designed for First Contact (along with the Akira and Steamrunner), and then used during the Dominion War on DS9.
