I think you are right saying that hot is subjective but I think in some cases like this it can be held as a general opinion. I'm not saying she isn't attractive but just missing something. But I think if they do like 'Superman: The Movie' and get the relationship to work and make us love her character it doesn't matter.

The only actress cast as Lois that I think would really fit the general notion of hot would be Terri Hatcher in Lois & Clark. And possibly how Lois was drawn in the '90's Superman TAS. Otherwise Lois has been played by attractive women that some will feel are hot and others not. Other than Hatcher there's Erica Durance from Smallville.

Enh. I would have rather seen Rachel MacAdams as Lois. Amy Adams looks too sweet and adorable to be Lois; Lois needs some fire to her.

She showed a lot fire in "The Fighter" going toe to toe with Melissa Leo.

Interesting - according to IMDB, Alessandro Juliani is in the film, too - albeit playing a different character than, obviously, Hamilton, who he played in Smallville.

I love Maggie Gyllenhaaal, Scarlett Johansson is pretty much a goddess and Anne Hathaway can be quite lovely.

Margot Kidder? Never bought for a moment she was a Lois Lane. She didn't have the look and her raspy chain-smoking voice was hardly doing her any favors. It was hard to see what Superman would like in her and if we can't see that then it's hard to really buy into the relationship.

Margot Kidder was a terrible Lois Lane.

As said above, I think Teri Hatcher probably had the right balance between looks, being spunky and being a strong-willed "modern woman." It was easy to see why Superman would like her, it was easy to see why Clark would be interested in Lois on Smallville or even in Superman: Returns.

Margot Kidder? Couldn't buy it for a moment.

Why not? She wasn't superhot. She was normal. Even more flawed than any heroin in any movie I've seen, from her raspy voice to her sarcastic nature where she frequently put Clark and others like him down even as she complimented them. Superman loved her because he saw the person she really was inside. He was able to bore through all the layers that made her unappealing. That's what makes Supes great, he can do that with everyone.
