I was thinking of the so-called "liberty ships" when I designed her...very basic construction, cheap and quick to build. The type of ship that the Federation could turn out in bulk if needed in a wartime situation, then sell off remaining units afterwards to the private sector at a fairly low price.

So you might see a lot of those filling the "tramp freighter" role in peacetime, and whole convoys of them in wartime.

Wow, I gotta say, the Clydesdale....really lives up to the name

Great work on all of them though. Maybe the Pilotfish (& Avenger) should have it's nacelles angled outward (or moved outward) to provide more room for whatever it's "tugging".

Well, that's different! I don't think I've ever seen anyone turn a cylindrical feature any direction except axially along the direction of travel.

Glad you liked the Clydesdale. I thought it fit...it's big and brawny and powerful.

The Pilotfish doesn't hard dock with anyone, it's a "tractor" tug, hence the two small aft facing dishes (tractor beam emitters).

Being a relatively small and "weak" tug, it would take probably two or three to tow really bulky vessels, hence the name "Pilotfish" (as in the little fish that frequently run with sharks).

The Avenger isn't a tug at all.

Well, I was looking to do "different" with that one, so it looks like I succeeded. Structurally I justify it as being stronger across the "y" axis than some other designs, and the compact nature overall lends structural strength where it counts (around the nacelles and the tractor beam emitter).

I think you should rename the Cydesdale to "USS Saint Bernard." Looks like it's carrying a big brandy barrel.
