Is that an Excelsior Refit? My engineer can eliminate the Borg Cubes solo but can not take out the Mothership by hisself.

You are not supposed to solo the command ship. It us a group mission fir 5 players.
I did it with 3 once. 2 would be pushing it, alone is impossible

Yep, the Excelsior retrofit. She's a beautiful machine.

Oh yeah. In the instance above, there were 4 of us, and we made it with 10 seconds left to spare.

Anyhoo, here we are fighting the Devidians during the Drozana missions. I'll be honest, this mission raised the hair on the back of my head at a couple points, especially when my away team was walking down that long hall. Without giving anything away, I nearly jumped out of my skin.


I love using this ship as a gun platform. It has drastically improved my success rate, plus, I think it looks cool.

I rarely see 5 in the Borg Incursions. It's usually 2 or 3 and I can take out the Command ship with at least one good player assisting. Takes concentration and focus to succeed, but it's attainable. The few times that I haven't succeeded, it was due to a group of greenhorns all going their own direction.

Just curious, what would you give me if I succeeded solo??? I haven't tried since acquiring the DOFFs. Perhaps they are the edge I need to succeed. Don't underestimate the power of the Force, ... I mean the Excelsior. :-)

The Devidians are old missions now. I went through it with my daughter the other day (she's gets spooked by them) and it had been so long since I'd played them that I had forgotten almost everything.

It was my daughters tactical character and I had her get where she could just see the tip of the boss's head. He just stood there as she fired sniper shots as fast as she could into his head. He was almost dead by the time he decided to attack.

I've tried not to give away any info that would spoil the mission for you. Sorry if I did. If this is your first time through the mission, just play the mission without trying the sniper shots to the head. Her and I have been through it several times when it first came out and we just wanted to kill the boss as soon as possible.

The Excelsior Refit is the queen of the cruisers. A lot of younger whippersnappers try to dog me out for using an older and smaller design, but I can hang in a fight longer than them in their Galaxy class varients. The only other high-end cruiser that I like is the Sovereign/Assault Cruiser. If I couldn't afford the Excelsior, I'd be in the Sovereign.

Well, when I was playing the Devidian missions, I had the lights off and it was about midnight, too, so that may have contributed.

I agree about the Excelsior retrofit. I fly it because I love the Excelsior, and I like being underestimated.

That ship is gorgeous. I had one at one point, but deleted it way back when I got my Excelsior retrofit. I don't know what I was thinking at the time!
By the way, you're very good with a screenshot. I can never seem to time mine just right for beauty shots.

Tried a few screenshots. Sorry for so many, I don't really do this very often, and I just wanted to play around with them and see what I could produce, so here's the USS James C. Maxwell in the heat of glorious battle (two to be exact)!

That first fly-by shot is very cool.

if you take screeshots during battle you should deactivate the shield ring display. If you open the options menu, it should be the very first option you need to uncheck, I think.

What's the trick it posting images? It doesn't seem to work for me.

Appreciate the tip about turning off the shield ring display.

I hit the "Print Screen" button. Then I go to my STO folder where the screenshots are kept.

Just did a Borg run. Me and three other ships cleaned out the sector.

You need to upload your picture to an image host - Photobucket or Imageshack are fabourites - and then they give you a link you can use on bulletin boards.
