Side note:
Thank God PJ is putting on weight again.. not so much as in his LotR days but i saw an actual picture of him last year and he looked so thin and sickly that it scared me a bit (and he was having medical problems that needed surgery). Now that he's gained a few pounds again he looks so much healthier.. i like him with his hobbit physique.
Much of his weight loss was due to an ulcer for which he had surgery early in production of the Hobbit. Jackson's metbolism seems to work in reverse. You would think he would lose weight during these marathon film projects he undertakes. Instead, he's been steadily gaining as the Hobbit rolls along. And yes, he looks much healthier now.
I remember while he was making King Kong he started asking his assistant to bring him salads for lunch instead. Don't know if that was in a production diary but he looks completely different. I think now is his Hobbit look.

Re: THE HOBBIT (2012/2013): News, Rumors, Pics Till Release

Christopher Lee talks about The Hobbit.

(Jump to the 6 minute mark to hear about The Hobbit)

Man, he looks and sounds old, but as he says, he's almost 90!

Either way, I'm so happy PJ and company were able to accommodate Mr. Lee's health so he can appear in both of these films, however brief. It sounds like Mr. Lee is, too.

The films just wouldn't be the same without Sir Christopher Lee as Saruman. He's a treasure, to be sure, and it's great to hear his enthusiasm and energy. Though it was just a bit part, I loved his turn in Hugo -- he still brings an incredible charisma to the screen, no matter the role.

^ I agree, looking at just that photo. But his expression and comments in that clip (something to the effect of "Who was that funny little man" as PJ walked past) were utterly hilarious.

What a great man. Can't wait to see him in the Hobbit and Hugo.

Well, he's supposed to be a Wizard. I'm not sure if they age.

He wouldn't necessarily appear younger, anyway. After seven thousand years, what's sixty more?

I just can't believe we're still talking about Christopher Lee in a big an important film! WHAT a career. (of course, I said the same thing when Lucas cast him in Ep II how many years ago)

LOL, that stunt casting in Episode II was so great. "Hey, Christopher Lee was so good in Lord of the Rings. Let's get him in the same role in my next movie."

Speaking of stunt casting - but more literally - LOTR and Hobbit swordmaster Bob Anderson has died, aged 89.

How sad. He was a part of all my favorite sword fights, from The Princess Bride to Highlander to The Empire Strikes Back.

Tolkien Birthday Toast

I must admit I've never heard of this tradition before but I'll be starting it this evening. Happy birthday, Tolkien!
