Oh, and it's probably a bit obvious but it only just occurred to me that the mysterious figure could be what the space jockey looks like out of it's suit. It'd certainly explain why the chair is empty and what that big human looking face is about. |

But amazingly the director was never able to generate an ounce of atmosphere or suspense with that setting (not helped by the fact they showed the big mystery ship in the opening seconds), and the movie quickly degenerated into just a lame, FX-heavy splatter-fest. Ugh. Just such a wasted opportunity. |

At least Event Horizon didn't even try to camouflage that it's just some mystery horror at its core (although with some stunning visuals).
