Don't worry. Us folks in the states have watched enough British mystery shows to get the joke!

Its Shark repellent used by someone with a bat fetish.

"Shark Repellent" is a substance used to repel sharks.

Bat- is the prefix attached the most of Batman's more bizarre devices.

Bat-Shark Repellent.

My guess is that the word has gotten out about Dent and his little killing spree.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

New quotes from Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy.

Nolan on the story and the choice of Bane as the villain:

"It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after The Dark Knight. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state. With Bane, we're looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn't had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we're testing Batman both physically as well as mentally."
Hardy on Bane:

"He's brutal. Brutal. He's a big dude who's incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It's not about fighting. It's about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it's nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action."

^ The jump in time is quite surprising, isn't it? I thought it would pick up soon after TDK. Does this mean that Batman has been a fugitive for all this time?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

This is a quote from the article, even though it hasn't been made available online yet. Apparently there are people who currently possess the article who are trying to scan it in, but here's a quote that I thought was quite interesting as well:

The Dark Knight Rises is also notably the first of Nolan's Batman films to show the main character operating in daylight. A bold decision; after all, this is hardly the Adam West TV show. "We felt to some degree we'd earned the right to do that with the character," explains Nolan.

So, he figures he's earned enough goodwill to stretch out a little eh? And eight years is a big jump. The entire rogues gallery could have come and gone in that time.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Anticipation Station

So I think it's safe to say that there's DEFINITELY a Dark Knight Returns vibe going on here. Set in the (near) future, vet Batman possibly coming out of retirement, a city at war...

Wouldn't that just rehabilitate Batman? After eight years (OMG), I doubt the impact this reveal would make on the people of Gotham would be that big.
