time travel movie "Looper" from Dir. Rian Johnson

Rian Johnson's science fiction movie Looper from Brick director.
It's a violent time travel movie
"Looper" is set during a future in which time travel has been invented, with operatives sent back to the present to assassinate criminals.
Veteran producer Ram Bergman is producing with Endgame, which also is financing.

Interesting but sounds like Timecop (1994) or Minority Report (2002) with a The Terminator (1984) twist.

Re: time travel movie "Looper" from Dir. Rian Johnson

some script pages from his next movie, the futuristic Looper. Which is even better.

*Spoilers ahead...*
So we got hold of a bunch of script pages from Johnson's Looper, which were released for casting purposes. The usual caveats apply — these may not be the final script and they're not the entire screenplay, plus they could always be random scenes written just for casting purposes. But they certainly appear to be pages from Looper's final script, including page numbers that jump around in the film. We believe they're genuine.
Rian Johnson's LOOPER script is the futuristic noir we've been waiting for

Joseph Gordon-Levitt was at UCLA a little bit ago and mentioned this project--he was pretty excited about it.

I'm a little hesitant after the middling THE BROTHERS BLOOM, but BRICK was an excellent film for a first time director and the subject matter is certainly interesting here. I hope it comes together.

Re: time travel movie "Looper" from Dir. Rian Johnson

Director Rian Johnson is currently in production in New Orleans on the science fiction film "Looper".

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Xu Qing, Noah Segan, Jeff Daniels and Piper Perabo
There are some on-set photos that show off the art direction of this film which looks like art deco meets futuristic-looking vehicles.

The vehicles (which are branded with the Zapcars.com logo) are parked outside a nightclub called "La Belle Aurore." French for "Beautiful Sunset," the club's name is famous for being the fictional location where Rick and Ilsa met in Casablanca.

I like the costumes which with the hats look like a 1930s era world.
Looking forward to this.

It comes out next year.

I like JGL and time travel, but I have to admit I hated Brick.

I wonder if they'll explore the morality of executing a person for a crime they haven't committed but will commit.

From what ive read time travel isnt being used as a method of preventing or punishing crime. Rather it's an elaborate method of murder and body disposal being used by the Mob. So it's probably unlikely that will come up.

The marketing machine for this movie is starting to kick into gear, and its first reveal is the official poster. The teaser trailer will be released next Thursday.

Official Synopsis:
Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a "looper" - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good... until the day the mob decides to "close the loop," sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination.

Yea, but to be fair, I think this is gonna be a period piece that takes place essentially in the 1930's. Sort of a future AU type cat and mouse game. The whole reason they are closing the loop may be because he was unwilling to kill his future self in the first place.

Looper, Jumper, Timecop, there's a lot of on-the-nose names here.
