Colm Meaney can wear a red shirt and survive. Just watch Encounter at Farpoint and All Good Things.
I'm not sure this one counts. In that episode, both Picard and Data clearly refer to O'Brien as "Colm", suggesting that Meany was not playing O'Brien.

^ They're calling him 'Conn' (his function on the bridge), not Colm.

As noted above, they called him "Conn" and indeed I thnk that's what he's listed as in the credits. All Good Things clearly establishes that "Conn" in indeed O'Brien.

Besides, I said Colm Meaney can wear a red shirt and survive, not O'Brien. So whatever he may have been called in Farpoint, my point still stands.

Me too, which is why I'm gonna start watching with the CC on, despite the fact that I'm not deaf.

Mostly.

For example, after reading your replies, I played that scene again with the CC on, and even though the word "Conn" DOES appear onscreen, I still hear "Colm".

^ Yeah, I don't recall any other time a person was referred to as "Conn"... only "you have the Conn," not "you, Conn".

FACT: Colm Meaney doesn't like to see others suffer and so is upset when people subject themselves to Encounter at Farpoint.

FACT: Colm Meaney wrote the first draft of City on the Edge of Forever at the age of twelve, but gave it to Harlan Ellison because he thought he needed the break.

Re: Facts About Colm Meaney!

Colm Meaney wrote "The Jungle", and doesn't really have an opinion about it. He's glad it's a staple of the American public school system though.
