Re: Has there ever been a Kryptonian Green Lantern?

^^This is the second thread you've posted in with that theory. I still don't remember where you got his from. Was it during the Bryne years? I assumed that this would have been introduced during his run. Or perhaps in the World of Krypton mini-series or whatever it was called.

It was a backup story in Action from back in the seventies.

Ah gotcha. No wonder I'm not familiar with it then.

Or would the Guardians, or the Power Ring reject a Kryptonian because of all the additional powers the combination would incur?
Wouldn't those powers only happen on planets with yellow suns? So, like on Krypton he/she would be like everyone else...

Just how long had Tomar been the Green Lantern of Sector 2813? As I recall he had been one of the first Green Lanterns selected and was honored as such. (Although my "oldtimer's disease gets in the way most times...LOL) And when he perished in COIE's wasn't his ring passed on to his brother?
As for Superman I recall during the Armeggeddon fiasco that when future Clark was elected President, that the Gaurdians tried to present him with a ring because he made Earth a peaceful Utopia like planet? He eventually turned it down.

Would you need yellow kryptonite to defeat him?

Or just regular kryptonite wrapped in yellow paper. The paper gets it past a GL forcefield but the radiation gets through the paper regardless.

Remember that yellow represents fear now though. It only works as a weakness theoretically if one has fear of anything. Green K would still hurt Clark even with the ring.

Couldn't he have the ring block the radiation of Kryptonite, of any color, and keep it from hurting him?

That's a good question. I suppose so. He could use the ring to protect an protective bubble around himself I guess.

Even gold Kryptonite (being yellowish)?

Isn't the yellow flaw of the rings gone now, if the GL has enough will power? And even if it did the kryptonite itself would have to get inside the person shield of a GL.

I guess so. Old-style Green Lanterns were not completely powerless in the presence of a blackbody radiator like the sun, so just because some object that's radioactive is yellow should have had no effect.

Another weird thing is that kryptonite was sometimes used as a power source, but it's always been depicted as either completely innocuous or with only long-term health effects. I don't think a radioactive material could be both.

Re: Has there ever been a Kryptonian Green Lantern?

Post-Crisis Kryptonite has always been eventually hazardous to humans as well as a power source. Being exposed to Green K for years is what gave Lex Luthor cancer so bad he had to have his brain transplanted into a new body.
