I have to agree about gun carrying Alfred.

Cause Batman is A)a gun lover B)would tolerate his family friend/caretaker tailing on missions like a Watson.

I guess those of you who don't like or are against "gun totting" Alfred haven't read very many Batman comics. If you dislike the notion of this then you'll probably hate "Batman: Earth One" and Geoff Johns take on Alfred.

We don't know the context, obviously. However, the term "gun-totting" has a certain connotation attached to it as if he is the Punisher or something, not that he will use it infrequently when defending the Batcave. Not helping matters is the that promo image makes Alfred look as if he works with Vincent and Jules from Pulp Fiction.

I'm not quite sure what to make of the image in the link. Definitely alot more abstract than I was expecting, but this is just an early promo image, so I'm gonna try not to make any conclusions based off of it. The one thing I definitely like, is the fact that they seem to be going for some of the more obscure characters, which as a DC newbie is something I enjoy getting to see. Not quite sure what to make of the gun toting Alfred though. I'm pretty sure I've heard that he can be pretty badass in the comics at times, but was he ever really as badass as they're making him looking in the image?

Sounds like this series is cashing in on the upcoming movie just like the Green Lantern CGI cartoon. I thought Katana was the Anne Hathaway Catwoman for a second.

I too thought that there might be some connection with DC Animated going the route of CGI for their series. Maybe this will be the trend for their shows now? Probably not though.

Speaking for myself, whose read countless Batman titles in 25yrs, Alfred has used on occasion a gun in his 70years. Occasional gun use.

This is daily use, on the prowl as if he's Dum Dum Dugan or even Dominic Fortune.

Alfred with a shotgun or other firearm to AT THE RARE TIME defend the mansion, himself the cave is way, way different and you know this.

It's a promo picture displaying an apparently more physically active Alfred than versions that we've seen him before and as I stated a couple of times already, yes he's used a rifle before. I saw the same image you posted while doing a google search earlier.

The thing that is causing a stir is that the image and the way the premise was worded suggests Alfred is going to be some sort of bad ass who goes around capping people while fighting crime with Batman. As such, it comes off as very...unusual for a Batman show.
