Lol... one can definitely notice the difference in speed.
I think the same thing was obvious for most Trek shows.
The early seasons sounded as if the actors had a higher pitched voices, but then after a couple of years, it would subside.

That's true. From reading comments on Amazon, I believe people have been caught out when importing Blu-ray discs from the UK.

To the original poster - whatever CBS Action is broadcasting is far worse quality than the show appeared on BBC, Sky One and definitely the DVD sets. Nothing to do with PAL/NTSC.

You'd hope that. I know that Fox sometimes had issues with that (they'd end up putting the chapter point at the start of the guest star credits, which doesn't always line up with the start of act 1!).

My assumption is that, as with the TOS release, the episodes will be rendered at 23.976 frames per second in all regions. Does anyone have any confirmation of that?

I suppose PAL foreign language versions do not suffer from a voice speed up because the dubbing was done for the PAL version?
So if the new release slows them down to the original speed of 23.976 frames per second... will the dubbed voices start sounding weird (as in: deeper)?

I expect that they will apply the same correction as for the TOS Blu-ray release. However, I don't know what that was. Anyone?

UK DVDs had to be in PAL, at 25 frames per second; the spec/players don't support any other option*. But TNG was shot at 23.976 frames per second; that meant that the show either needed to be converted or sped up; speeding it up is the standard that's evolved over the last few decades (and results in much higher picture quality).

Blu-ray added support for the normal film framerate, 23.976 frames per second, so film content can be shown "as is" without being sped up.

* Yes, NTSC is supported as well, but there's no guarantee that TVs could show it natively, and no requirement that players support converting on-the-fly, so there was never any chance that a major commercial house would support it.
