That 4 episode disc is my most anticipated release of 2011. Hopefully we'll see a pre-order soon. There would have to be, if it's going to release this year!

I checked out a little TNG on my free Amazon Prime streaming. Looked pretty shitty... lots of interlacing artifacts. C'mon people, fix these eps up right!

Aside from movie news, the STNG-R project is at the top of my list too.

LeVar Burton just tweeted...

Stopped by to see how the TNG conversion to HD for Blue Ray was coming along... #mindblown #bydhttmwfi http://moby.to/6nxp3k
Guess it's happening one way or another.

I gotta say, I got this sick feeling that this is all going to end up being upscaled footage as opposed to scanned negatives.

I just don't see that happening. They'd never hear the end of it.

I've asked 3 insiders of Trek in the last day if they know anything about the STNG-R...hoping for some answers...

Re: Rumor: TNG-HD is a-coming

I want to see some sample FX soooo bad.

If they do a good job on this? If the reviews of the blu-ray hold up? I'll shell out the cash for TNG all over again. And I paid $90 a season for the DVDs. So you know I'm fucking nuts!

It will be interesting to see the Best of Both Worlds part I & II in HD. Also, Yesterday's Enterprise.

I never bought TNG on DVD, but I would be very tempted to take the plunge on these remastered Blu-rays if they really do happen.

New from The Digital Bits:

Before we post anything else, here's something fun for you Star Trek: The Next Generation fans that may have doubted our reports over the last several months that the TNG: Remastered project was underway. LeVar Burton just tweeted this yesterday with a picture of the gate to CBS Television City: "Stopped by to see how the TNG conversion to HD for Blue Ray was coming along..." I trust the rest of us will have the same experience soon enough, when CBS finally announces their "sampler" BD project, which SHOULD contain (according to sources we spoke with at Comic-Con) Encounter at Farpoint and a trio of other interesting demo eps. Thanks to Bits reader Daniel S. who shared the link with us.

YES. GOD YES. MAKE IT SO.

Basically, there are a lot of technical issues with the SFX making it a giant hurdle to do a TOS-R style remastering. Aparently, they've fixed it and CBS are willing to give TNG-R the go ahead.
OH YES MAKE IT SO IN THE NEAR FUTURE

That's right!! So it does look like it's being done "in-house". I guess doing Encounter at Farpoint makes sense.
