Just had some garlic bread and a small salad. It was too hot to cook anything.

I would agree that we have more then a few things in common. While I love Julia Child, I even saw the movie Julie & Julia. I never really liked her cookbooks. Plus I'm more of an Alton Brown person. I just got his two volume set "Good Eats: The Early Years & Good Eats: The Middle Years."

Shepards Pie
Garden Salad

I make my Shepards Pie a little different then most people, I use an actual pie crust as the base of it. I also use ground turkey & chicken, not groud beef.

I used premade frozen pie crusts. The pie crust gives the Shepard Pie real structure and an almost pot pie taste with the flaky crust. It's best to let it cool before cutting, allows you to get the slices out easier.

On allrecipes.com, my preferred version of this meal is Mom's Shepherd's Pie and I've just added your suggestion to my recipe "notes" so I won't forget. I'm cheffster over there by the way
