Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Total fail on the costume without the trunks. If they broke the blue down into parts I MIGHT be able to live with it. That along with the golden age or Earth 2 style emblem that I have never liked.
I just don't understand some peoples opinion that the "TRUNKS" are fucking underwear. his costume with it has lasted more 70 years for Christ's sake!
I don't know about anybody else but his costume is iconic as apple pie and the american flag. What is next? Changing the colors on the american flag because they are boring or just want to change them?

Well Batman has had trunks for most of HIS comic history, and yet I don't remember people throwing a fit over those being gone from the movies.

It definitely takes some adjusting to on Supes, but I've really grown to like the look myself. We probably shouldn't draw any firm conclusions based off these small, blurry shots though. There's lots of detail and texture we just aren't seeing here.

Exactly so. Although I knew a Hollywood agent - of all people! - who refused to see any of the Burton-era movies because the idea of Batman wearing armor offended him.

it looks pretty stupid just being an endless sea of blue. maybe he should considering wearing something a different color, to break up all that blue. I'm thinking maybe some trunks, or shorts or something.

Yeah I never completely understood the "wearing underwear on the outside" bit either. The costume was originally designed to emulate the type worn by professional wrestlers of the time.

Honestly his trunks aren't important. Also keep in mind that we're seeing the suit on set without any kind of touch ups like the original released studio photo.

With the crummy leaked photos out, I anticipate TPTB releasing a publicity new still by next week.

Trunks are essential, and, yes, they look silly, but it suits a man who is all-boy scout and stands up for all that is good. Chris Reeves wasn't shy at all despite the costume as he found a way to dismiss any cynicism (something no one is able to do today) and inhabit the character.

How in God's name does a man wearing trunks equal "all-out boy scout" and standing up for all that is good? Last I checked, wearing a pair of red briefs on top of blue jeans doesn't mean you're a paragon of society ... if it does, I've been doing things all wrong.
