All great questions. I took the image from the old "two-episodes per disc" DVD.

So not, VHS, not "Remastered" TOS-R on DVD, and not "Remastered" TOS-R on Blu-Ray. (I think it should be the same as the VHS--just cleaner.)
Yes, as you surmised, I specifically wanted to know if the source was from a time before things were "messed with".

But I can only guess at the title since I only have a couple of the "two-fers".

I'm only sure that the ep is likely one of the "first five" with my favorite version of the theme.

Hey, couldn't we make a game out of this. Someone posts a photo and we all have to guess which episode it is from. Obviously, the game would be most challenging if the photo itself is not too easily identifiable (i.e. a photo of Kahn drinking in his red kimono). What do y'all think about that?
There's already a game in the General Trek forum here.

I thought you meant there was not enough lighting.

Understood. To try and avoid that misunderstanding (which wasn't entirely successful, evidently) I hyphenated "under-lit" instead of simply writing "under lit." I guess it didn't really help.

Yes, the two episodes that have "William Shatner" without the word "Starring" are the first two episodes aired: "The Man Trap" and "Charlie X."

That's one of the things I loved about the first DVDs: they restored the opening credits. Even had a "created by" credit up front like in the latter two seasons. Glad I kept 'em.

Shouldn't S1 NOT have a created-by credit up front? I thought it was added to S2.

Re: Episode Identification from Photo

At least one of the first season eps had it.

That game already exists. It's in the General Trek Discussion, it covers TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT and all the films. (Although I admit, the films aren't represented all that often as they're very easily recognizable)
