A major SNOOZER of a book. VERY very rough going, had to force myself to keep reading. To be perfectly honest I don't think this book should even have been released without a serious rewrite.

I am starting it today on my nook. zero sum game was fantastic read the only problem I had was the wiered time jump in the books though I have yet to read any other ds9 reluanch other than this one.

okay I just finished it and loved it. just wished they would've done some of the story with the mind meld with tuvok and brahma-shiva. all so at the end where tuvok and his wife were talking about possible futures? all so bear in mind I have yet to read any of the other titan books except this one and the destiny trilogy? nore have I yet gotten around to the voyager novels in the coinside with titan.

my main issue with this book were those damn near unpronounceable gorn names.
other than that fantastic read. all so what is titan's registration number agin?

Does anyone know the chronological order of the Typhon Pact series? I'm working on a Trek literature timeline and would like to know since I'm almost finished with the timeline.

Also, has it been revealed where the Typhon Pact e-book novella, The Struggle Within, takes place yet?

Zero Sum Game: May '82; Aug '82

Seize the Fire: Aug '82 (going by author's own statements, though some references in the text are inconsistent)

Paths of Disharmony: Sep-Oct '82 (going by the stated age of Picard's son, though other references are inconsistent)

The Struggle Within: Nov-Dec '82

I just started reading this a few days ago, and while I haven't found it utterly unreadable I've already got some issue with it after only 20something pages. First of all I'm just not a fan of Michael A. Martin's writing style. He just seems to overwrite everything. For instance less than 2 pages after he first introduces Vale and explains who she he goes through it all again when she chimes in on a conversation. All I could think as I read it was "Yeah, we already know, you just told us that".
Then there's the fact that Riker doesn't trust a scan result because it came from White-Blue and Torvig. So if he doesn't trust White-Blue why did he let him stay aboard the ship. And poor Torvig, after everything the little guy's has done his crew mates still don't like him.

I found it rather tedious too.

I didn't like Zero Sum Game much either, but the rest of the Typhon Pact books range between pretty damned good to excellent !

I loved ZSG and RBoE, and really enjoyed PoD, so I was hoping maybe I would disagree with the majority and actually like StF, but so far it's not looking likely.
So far I'm getting a George Lucas vibe of off MAM. Good ideas, bad execution.

I hear you. Like I said near the beginning of this thread, another Mike Martin novel is just on my shelf collecting dust. Two years, the same can be said of StF. It feels like just another Titan novel, and I don't follow that novel series as regularly as the TNG-R and TP books.

Yeah, I've had both this and the first Romulan War book sitting on my shelf/nook since they were published, but at this point I'm not even sure if I'm going to finish StF, or read any BtRW.
