Excellent. I imagine this wearing mostly grays and steely silvers with accents in green and brown. Kind of a cross between the BoP and the TMP D7's. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Neither of the Klingon ships you mentioned were painted grays and steely silvers, abeit ILM made the K'tinga gray and reds for TUC.
The D-7's in TMP are steel and metallic grays. At least on my TV screen. Though I seem to recall it having actually been painted a metallic green color. And the BoP does have some gray panels. But they're not overwhelming, I only found them when I was looking over photos of the thing with a fine tooth comb while working on a model of it.

That is just awesome, it really follows TNG's visual language to me, it's got a very "Probertish" feel to it.

The model was painted various shades of green. You can get a hint of the overall green tint in this shot.

Hmm...guess it was all in the lighting. The TNG Romulan Warbird was painted in similar muted green/gray tones, but it looked extremely green by the time it got to the final cut.

^^^

Oh yeah. Who would have guessed from watching the movie that the Vulcan Shuttle was actually painted in pinks and lavenders!?!? It blew my mind when I found out.

Thanks for the great suggestions. My original idea was to make this ship just a ship of the line, a common destroyer or something. But I decided to make it a flagship instead. Here's what I have so far on the colors. I wanted the base color to be reminiscent of the original D7 paint.

Indeed. I could easily see this as being a "new" Kronos One for the Chancellor/Emperor. Well done sir!

Re: Re-Imagined K'tinga/D7

The colors are very Boba Fett. . . not sure if they quite work though.

The big bright red on such big areas, especially the two sections on the top rear seem to scale it down some, even giving it a toy-like look.

The slate and seafoam colors are great, but I just don't think you can use that bright red with them like you can get away with on the darker military and olive tones of the bird of prey. Even then the red tended to look rustier or more weathered or something.

As far as the pattern of the accent color (whatever you use) I think you might find that freeing yourself from the patterns of panels and greeblies will allow a more even and pleasing aesthetic. With more even tones (such as before painting), the panels flowed into the larger shapes of the ship much more naturally. With the red shapes breaking up that flow it is much harder to appreciate the ship as a whole.

I love the model, but right now she looks like a pretty girl in too much makeup.

Oooh! I like it! Even Kronos One was a bit brightly painted in real life, and the filming process toned it down a bit.
