I'm confused. If you bought the book, can't you just look at it to see what stories are included?

I usually only stick to stuff that I know is official so I got The Coming of Conan The Cimmerian from Random House.

now this will begin my list for reading conan I am going to start with the three omnibus's which came out in 2003 - 2005 and I believe they have all the robert e howard conan novels:

1) conan of cimeria: the coming of conan the cimmerian
2) conan of cimeria: The Bloody Crown
3) conan of cimeria: The Conquering sword of conan

this is just the begining. and, I so can't wait till the new movie comes out.
all so I will be adding marvel and dark horse graphic novels.

all so a new development HUB is now play conan the adventure the animated series.

now these are the gnome press editions 1950 - 1957 co written L. Sprague de camp

1) the coming of conan 1953
2) conan the barbarian 1954
3) the sword of conan 1952
4) King conan 1953
5) conan the conqueror aka ( the hour of the dragon) 1950
6) The Return of conan 1957 with de camp and Bjorn Nyberg
7) Tales of conan 1955

have yet to read these but they are slowly being made into e books.

I plan to get the that one and the other two books in that trilogy. the one I got seems to be de camp stories.

this is one of my favorite series by burroughs and here is my reading list for john carter of mars:

a Princess of mars
the gods of mars
the warlord of mars
Thuvia maid of mars
The chessmen of mars
The master mind of mars
a fighting man of mars
sword of mars
synthetic men of mars
LIana of gathol
John carter of mars

and here are two that were written by his son

john carter and the giant of mars
skeleton men of Jupiter

now last two I have never read and are the hardest to find and I am hoping soon
that all the books will be in e form.

well the good news is all but john carter of mars is aviable on the nook. which is fantastic the only bad thing is it's none of the frazetta books.

Rather bad and confusing John Carter movie poster. Is that supposed to be JC in the poster? He looks more like one of the aliens!

(And as for Harry Potter, that kid just can't look "bad-ass" - poor strategy to make him try.)

I agree on both counts bad posters but at least we have a movie date now. so thanks for the link and here's hoping the movie is better than the poster.

LANCER/ACE paperback editions 1966 - 1977 these are all so books co written by L. sprague de camp and lin carter with art by the great Frank Frazetta:

1) conan 1968
2) conan of cimmeria 1969
3) conan the freebooter 1968
4) conan the wanderer 1968
5) conan the adventurer 1966
6) conan the Buccaneer 1971
7) conan the warrior 1967
8) conan the usurper 1967
9) conan the conqurer aka the hour of the dragon 1967
10) conan the avenger aka the return of conan 1968
11) conan the aquilonia 1977
12) conan of the isles 1968

now these books I have read mostly because I loved the art so much. and this is where I came into conan for books.
I first came to Conan through the Lancer editions, as did most people. However, I would suggest that any readers now first coming to the series stick to Howard's originals, as they are readily availible in many trade paperback editions (as much of Howard's work is now in the public domain).

I read the first Lancer compilation under the impression that it was all Howard's work, and not knowing that it consisted mostly of pastiches by L. Sprague DeCamp and Lin Carter. There were seven or eight stories in that first volume. When I finished it, I said to myself, well two of the stories in that book were awesome, but the others were kinda lame. Guess this Howard fella wasn't all he's cracked up to be." Later on, of course, I learned that the two stories I liked were the only two original Howard stories in that first volume.

There was a recent remake of "The Land That Time Forgot."

Sir Rhosis

It was terrible. I watched the first 1/2 hour and had to stop. Same with a recent John Carter of Mars movie starring Antonio Sabado(sp?). Awful!

I still have all my Conan books from the ACE ones in the mid/late 70s through and including all of these. The quality of writing/story and characterization of Conan varies, but most of them were decent reads.

yeah, terrible poster. since the actor playing John Carter is relatively unknown you'd think they could at least tease us with a Martian or something.
