Re: Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)
Sorry again, but I want to see a Krypton similar to the Krypton shown on Superman: The Animated Series (and don't tell me that it can't be done; similar worlds were shown on Star Trek [TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise] for less money than what was supposedly spent by John Barry [not the same guy who was a composer] to design Krypton for the 1978 movie.) Snyder will want to put his own stamp on what Krypton looks like, and he'll have the money to do so, with today's CGI tech making it possible just as it was made possible on Enterprise and in Star Trek Nemesis for less money that will be budgeted for this upcoming movie. Of course, that's in the comics, I wouldn't expect Snyder to actually adapt that part. Although it would be pretty cool.

Re: Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)
It is better than Superman having to pick up a giant key to open the Fortress of Solitude. The Kryptonians from the movie knew how to building FTL starships. I'm sure they knew of ways of getting food and air. Just because we didn't see it happen onscreen doesn't mean it didn't exist. |

Say what you will about the Donner and Lester films but those films depiction of Krypton is one of my favorite things about the movie. I don't know why, but I get a true sense of awe and mystery regarding the ice world. Not to mention that John William's breathtaking Krypon theme is one of my all time favorite pieces of music.

Flat-out impossible, no ifs, ands or buts.

I agree the crystal sets look a bit on the cheap side now (as do the sets in the original SW movies, for that matter-- especially compared to what we see in movies today), but the concept they came up with is still as strong as ever, I think. |

Re: Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)
So, are you implying that it was nonsense that they didn't use it?
Anyway, the point of the matter is that the Krypton stuff looked so crazy and unrealistic to give it a sense of it being truly alien and advanced from anything Earth has without resorting to characters saying to the audience "We are an advanced alien race!" That would have been lazy. What the movie did was just good storytelling. Now, if you didn't like the design, that's fine. But to claim that it was lazy is completely misguided.
