the keel and main structure for the pylons is 1/8" plywood.
it's supported with several struts and braces, and will eventually be skinned with balsa, glassed and epoxied.

I may consider running a strip of brass on the underside before skinning it, we'll see how the electrical goes.

I think that's a fundamental flaw with your design. Without the original catamarans to support the saucer and Pylons, your model at that size is just gonna flop forward unless you have an extremely rigid metal frame in it.

This is especially true with the length of your pylons. I had that NX-01 kit, and the nacelles are fairly hefty for a kit. They sagged on the original layout unless you put a metal frame inside it. I just can't see this design being supported well enough to maintain its shape.

So, take a picture and post it. I'd like to see it.

I don't have the model anymore, but its quite noticeable on all of them. Heres the best pic of it I can find.

As you can see, the nacelles are angled upwards in relation to the rest of the body. Although having looked at your neck portion, I wonder how your planning to connect it to the saucer. If its just gonna be glued onto the outside of it, I can't see that holding either. Maybe a slit going up inside the neck with a crossbeam pushed through that will hold it better.

This is all assuming your gonna have it as one floating piece, if your planning on putting up support struts everything i've said is kinda moot.

The saucer will be attached using screws and an internal structure within the rear of the saucer with which to attach it to. I'm figuring that my setup will be more rigid than the original styrene.

plywood,balsa, brass, and epoxy. the pylons are supported from beneath, tied together across the keel with brass
following a "W" shape.

This is an early mock-up of the shuttlepod bay, there will be an open bay with a pod docking and the ceiling will have fibre optic "track" lighting.

I thought it was due to the shape of the kit pylons. I just built up the trailing edges of my pylons to level them out and mine have stayed up no problem.

The secondary hull and the pylons themselves are a piece of engineering all on their own. Maybe you could use 1/537 Refit saucer hull with that design for a torpedo free high speed cruiser...
