I'd love to see the revival of the Superman musical that's been put on at the Dallas Theatre Center. It looks like they've got a great take on how to handle the whole thing conceptually. This character really belongs to the 1930s.

Of course they talk about taking it to Broadway, but that's not likely.

I saw a reading of this earlier this spring. It's ok. There's a sense of humor about it. But at the time of the reading, it was way more camp than I think people will like. Well, maybe that's not true, it will be great family fun. Maybe. The songs are ok.

That said, I feel like it's in a weird way in competition with Tamor's Spiderman. I'm sure someone went: hey, Spiderman is coming to Broadway, we should redo the Superman musical... (There are clips of it on youtube. It had a TV version of it...)

The TV version was cut down, very camp, and based on the original book from the '60s version of the musical.

The local CBS affiliate news here in the DC area used the overture from the musical as their theme for...decades, it seemed like.

Yah. I can't believe they didn't have LEX in the original book... crazy.

Roberto did a good job of creating a new book. Lots of little nuggets here and there. A shout out to Billy Batson at one point. (If that stayed in...)

What I saw what as full reading of the book with music.

I saw this guy suggested on another site. He's actually a soldier who basically played himself in Generation Kill. He has the look for the role (forget the tattoos) but I don't know if he has the acting chops. Then again, the makers of The Wire cast him, he must have something going for him.

I think with Superman its about the eyes. The actor has to have "kind" eyes. Rudy Reyes has killers eyes.

I always thought Michael O'Hearn was a surprisingly good Clark Kent/Superman. O'Hearn played Superman in Sandy Collora's fanfilm World's Finest. However, there was something in his eyes and in his performance as Superman that really stood out to me- I can't quite explain it, but it really grabbed me.

If the key to casting Superman is casting Clark Kent as the poster suggests, then all the Routh haters should get their arses out of their heads because Brandon Routh personified Clark Kent to a tee.

Also Tom Welling is well known to whom? Smallville fans? Superman fans? Cheaper by the Dozen fans? I bring this up only because I seriously doubt that Welling is well known as Christopher claims he is. Most of my friends don't know who he is but know that I watch Smallville.

By the way I think Joe or Armie Hammer would be a good choice for Superman but for some reason I think they're gonna go for a total unknown and none of those on that list will be Superman.
