A novel by a Norwegian writer called Jo Nesbo (with the slashed through "o" letter I don't know how to type) named Snowman. It's really good.

That is such a brilliant series, and you've given me an idea for my husband's Christmas present.

and

That's right.. Season 5-0.
The Hawaii Five-0 theme music is a staple piece always played by the children's orchestra my daughter plays in. I tell you, hearing that music practiced on an oboe is truly unique.

I purchased our vet's services today, and paid £158 for my daughter's pet rat to have a benign mammary gland tumour removed and be spayed to help avoid any further tumours developing (intact female rats are prone to these tumours). The poor rattie is groggy, a bit grumpy, and has had rather a lot of her fur shaved off. She'll be happier tomorrow when she can go back in her cage with her sister. They're missing each other right now.

I have read one novel by Jo Nesbo called "Nemesis". It was quite good but I didn't enjoy it as much as novels I have read by Karin Fossum, Arnaldur Indridason and Johan Theorin so I have placed Nesbo behind them in the list of books I must read. I do like the character of Harry Hole.

As do I. Snowman is one of the later books and I plan to start the series at the beginning after I finish it.

Harry is a great character, but his new partner (Bratt I think, can't even be bothered to remember her name) is an awful Mary Sue.

Why do male authors have such trouble protraying strong female characters? I'm sick of bitchy, obnoxious and yet oh so sexy police women. It's a terrible stereotype.

Still, the novel makes for a great read.

Aside from food and gas... a new Christmas tree. The pre-lit kind, thank God.

I too gave in and bought a teeny charlie brown Christmas tree (plastic) because it looked so sad and spindly (it was at Goodwill - how much sadder could it be?) It's pre-lit and the cats love it - they are indoor kitties and may not realize it's not real . . .

Also picked up four little Madame Alexander "Korea" dolls - the little 8" sized ones (ebay) - soooo cute. Merry Christmas to me!

Being taken to Goodwill is about as sad as a little tree's life can get. But it's better than being thrown out.

When I was little, my grandparents gave me that size Madame Alexander dolls from several countries. Enjoy yours.
