Re: Planet of the Titans U.S.S. Enterprise
Dennis, the Adams/McQuarrie design never really got out of the art/tubes & cardboard phase, did it? For all we know, LordSarvain's design is pretty close to what they might have ended up with, only way more detailed. And this makes me think of the E-D, which the "original" did too. As in, they might have had the Adams/McQuarrie look in mind when they were designing the new Enterprise in the mid-80's. Edit: sorry, meant Enterprise D, not E Last edited by Ar-Pharazon; October 25 2010 at 04:45 PM. |

Re: Planet of the Titans U.S.S. Enterprise
And the work is very well done indeed. I like! However... I'm not too keen on the style of the nacelles. Maybe I'm getting the bad aftertaste of the nacelles off the Abramsprise. Or perhaps they look too much like the engines off a Tomcat or Phantom jet fighter. The intakes, the cowlings, seem too much like conventional propulsion elements rather than warp drive components. Just my personal take. And yet...the nacelle work IS quite nicely done! Look forward to seeing more art on the model. |

The concept had a much smaller saucer. I think LordSarvain did a good thing making the saucer a little bigger. More proportional this way. |

Re: Planet of the Titans U.S.S. Enterprise
I didn't realize this had already been seen here before, but I'm glad everyone seems to be liking it. Currently, I've stripped all the materials off and am reworking them because some problems had developed. Also I'm rebuilding the impulse engines on the primary hull and putting in some windows. Basically I'm doing everything I can to delay actually texturing it lol. I'll post some updated pics soon Anyway here's some color pics before the modifications... ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Planet of the Titans U.S.S. Enterprise
LordSarvain, you've got a fine-looking ship there. I'd quibble with minor details here and there, but you've done such a fine job it'd be serving gravy over filet mignon to argue for any changes. I can't believe you've made such a fine silk purse out of that old sow's ear! The nacelle signage ... is that lit by a row of lights above and below? What's under the secondary hull with such enormous aft-facing windows? Why are the auxiliary hangar doors (1, 2, and 3) asymmetrically arranged -- is what's in the space that would house 4? I really want to explore this ship!
