I never saw "Watchmen" or "300"...so I dunno.

Hopefully we will get news on who will play Superman in the coming weeks.

The Heat Vision blog at The Hollywood Reporter also confirms the story. Snyder is one of the more high profile directors who was in the mix and Warners is still very keen on him despite lukewarm box office for his last couple of films, so I guess it was a matter of him stepping up to the plate and agreeing to sign on with Chris Nolan's vision. We're likely to get the most spectacular superhero action scenes in any Superman film to date. The question beyond that is whether Synder gets the tone and casting right. I'm a big fan of his work to date and I'm intrigued to see what he comes up with to say the least.

Exciting tidbit of information from the Heat Vision article:

Goyer is writing the script, which is rumored to have, like “Superman Returns,” a Richard Donner Superman connection. In the movie’s case, it’s a villain connection: General Zod.

Deadline spoke with Zack Snyder, who confirms that as soon as he completes post on Sucker Punch, he'll move right into the Man of Steel. "I've been a big fan of the character for a long time, he's definitely the king of all superheroes, he's the one," Snyder told Deadline. "It's early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I've always felt he was kind of awesome. I'll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it."

I don't want Zod. He was already done to perfection in Superman II by Terence Stamp.

I want Brainiac, the robotic computer version from Superman the animated series, to be the Big Bad.

My guess is the film will have three major villains: Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Zod.

Okay, now that that's out of the way...

I like the choice, Snyder's got a good visual eye and I enjoyed all of his movies that I've seen (Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen). With Nolan producing and Goyer writing, I'm sure this will go well. Now hopefully they back it up with an equally solid cast.
