It's not the DTI cover. It's a piece of placeholder art standing in for the DTI cover which is still in progress.

We've seen Dayton's. It's here - http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Paths_of_Disharmony - among other places.
Is it me or does the Andorian on the cover look like someone out of The Last Airbender.
Having been unfortunate to see that film, my answer would be no.

Actually I have been thinking that the model for Shar reminded me a bit of Noah Ringer (who plays the title character in that film).

Shar's chan, so he'd be the last Star-bender . Earth, Water, Fire, Stars. Not air, silly people.

Huh? What does his gender have to do with that?

Because in Andorian culture each of the genders is symbolically tied to an "element" that they are supposed to sybolically channel, embody, whatever. Chan are Stars, Zhen Earth, Thaan Fire and Shen Water.

So Shar can't be an airbender, he's a starbender.

It was just a silly throwaway comment. Pay no heed to my whimsy

The Tale of the Breaking, in Worlds of DS9: "Paradigm". Sort of. They have elemental guardians who embody their supposed gender traits. Okay, so it's not quite equivalent (maybe my description above is a little inaccurate), but it made an amusing joke (well, amusing to me) .

"To one shall be given wisdom to be a protector--the cunning warrior who shall fight for the future.

"To another shall be given strength, providing a foundation upon which the others can build.

"One shall be given blood, the river of life that shall flow among the others, providing nurture and sustenance when the flesh longs to yield.

"And to the last shall be given passion, for the flame of desire will bring change to the others and warm them when the chill is bitterest."

So Thirishar became four: Charaleas became wisdom; Zheusal became strength; Shanchen became blood; Thirizaz became passion. Together, the four are the First Kin.

Uzaveh banished the four to the farthest reaches of the kingdom and upon seeing them there, so far from the Thrones and utterly alone, appointed for each a guardian.

For Thirizaz, the Fire Daemon fed the soul-consuming passion. Loving Shanchen became a vessel for the Water Spirit, forever bound to the Eternal love flowing from Uzaveh's Throne. For strong Zheusal, Earth became protector. For wise Charaleas, the Stars became guides, their light defying darkest night.

Curse my odd sense of humour! But Shar is a starbender not an airbender. Though hopefully the sex problem isn't so bad that he's the only one left...

Re: Couple of covers for Upcoming Trek

I don't think it would make sense for the ancient Andorians to have considered "stars" an element, because they're not a substance you can do anything with. More likely they would've considered Light to be the elemental principle in question.

That's a good point.

Okay, he's the Last Lightbender.

Another crisis resolved!

Hey Nasat, were you at my party last night? Seems like you drank one to many.

My sense of humour is a bit odd, I admit.

For what it's worth, I did post while drunk once. It was quite fun. Maybe I'll do it again some time...

Glad to hear. Hope the final art grabs me a bit more. Still looking forward to the book in any event.
