Re: AVENGERS - movie Discussion, News, Interviews, Pics till release 2

Brief Q&A with Mark Ruffalo on his initial thoughts about taking over the role of Banner/Hulk from Comic Con.

"It was very exciting — and I realized I had some pretty big shoes to fill. Those were my heroes up there! I was a comic book fan growing up. I loved The Hulk and The Avengers — it’s just strange to be entering that world as an actor. I never would have imagined that before."
As far as the character itself, Ruffalo had this to say:
"He’s a guy struggling with two sides of himself — the dark and the light — and everything he does in his life is filtered through issues of control. I grew up on the Bill Bixby TV series, which I thought was a really nuanced and real human way to look at The Hulk. I like that the part has those qualities."
And some thoughts on taking over the role from his friend Edward Norton after the latter's public feud with Marvel:
"I’m a friend of Ed’s, and yeah, that wasn’t a great way for all that to go down. But the way I see it is that Ed has bequeathed this part to me. I look at it as my generation’s Hamlet."
Shooting is tenative but may start around Jan/Feb 2011.
Time to have a teaser trailer ready for the release of Captain America maybe?

I rather like Ann Heche She's got pretty good comic timing and the Wasp always struck me as having a motormouth. I think she's of comparable age to Nathan Fillion, Downey Jr, and Paltrow isn't she? Is she hated in Hollywood or do people think the Wasp is likely to be cast as a real youngster? I admit, I never saw the Wasp as a young un, I always thought of her as more mature, of comparable age to her husband, who as an experienced scientist, doesn't really fit a very young man.
IIRC Jan was pretty young, possibly just out of college. While Hank was an older well established scientist and a widower.

May have started out that way, but I think the Wasp everyone likes is a tad older, not just barely over the jailbait stage. Unless they go the Ultimates route again and just make her a child genius. Joss would love that.

I think they'd cast some one in their twenties.

Sarah Michelle Gellar? Summer Glau? Or Amy Acker? For Wasp. Which former Whedonized actor is more likely to have a part or make an appearance. I think Adam Baldwin would be a real good fit as a SHIELD agent. I would even say if not Fillion for Hank Pym, Alan Tudyk would be great too. What say you?

I'll go for that. Leighton Meester for Wasp!

Firefly fans never cease in trying to foist the actors onto an actual successful property.

Well did you not see my other list of candidates in the diminutive whedonized actress category? And I'm using the term whedonized because I'm trying to simplify saying actresses who have been in one of his productions. But I think it's pretty evident already.

Maybe not diminutive but more petite.

We're just trying to share them with the rest of the world. We're not greedy.

It's taken me long enough but I think I've finally got it figured out. I don't know why it took song long since it's been staring me in the face. I've finally found the actress who suits the role well enough to receive the Hermiod Seal of Approval.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you your Ms. Marvel... Yvonne Strahovski!
