Just when I think I'm out, they keep pulling me back in. The keyboard sounds awesome!

One of the pics of the guitars showed what looked like a real guitar with a 1/4" input jack... I wonder if they will sell an adapter to allow me to use my guitar with RB3.
Nope...
The real guitar controller has sensors in the neck so the game knows which string is pressed on what length...
But there will be a adaptor for keyboards and electric drums so you can use them with the game...

http://www.plasticaxe.com/2010/06/11...e-peripherals/

Rock Band 3 MIDI PRO-Adapter

Use a real MIDI keyboard or MIDI drum set in Rock Band 3
Velocity sensitive adjustment for MIDI drums designed to reduce cross-talk during play
Ships with a removable clip, allowing it to be attached to a belt
I was reading the IGN preview and it looks like the guitar communicates with the game using MIDI. So I can get a MIDI adapter for my guitar and that could work for in-game.
Nope, the game reads the sensors in the new guitars neck...

Re: The unofficial Rock Band thread.

The sensor thing is pretty damn cool though - it's a brilliant assist since you don't have to constantly look down at a guitar in order to feed the frets.

Anyone get the Green Day game? I got it as a birthday gift last week, but I've only had time to play the first handful of songs. Harder than I thought it would be (on drums)... or maybe the two months I haven't played because I moved and still haven't entirely unpacked has made me rusty.

I read that a lot on the official forum....
Most thought since it's punk it's easy on all instruments, but they discovered it not to be...

It's like no one has ever listened to GD before. The guitar parts aren't that bad, but the drum work is fast and frentic, especially on the earlier stuff.

I'll admit to mostly only being familiar with Dookie and a handful of hits afterward, but it still took me by surprise. I'm generally pretty solid on drumming in 'hard' difficulty these days, but on some of them I had to crack it down to 'medium'.

Well, there is probably a reason why there is an achievement/trophy called Tre's Greatest Hits...

Re: The unofficial Rock Band thread.

Some RB3 info from Joystiq:

On the outside, the MIDI PRO-Adapter (pictured above in all three flavors) looks like a chunky, 16-bit era controller -- in fact, in can be used as a gamepad, confirms Mad Catz global PR manager Alex Verrey.
The PRO-Adapter connects to an Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii via USB, and the MIDI instrument plugs into the port on the side of the device. A three-way switch in the center (above the system button) toggles between drum, keyboard and guitar inputs.
"We can't possibly guarantee compatibility with all MIDI instruments," warns Verrey, but the MIDI PRO-Adapter "should work with the vast, vast majority."
http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/19/ro...i-pro-adapter/

So it looks like some Midi guitars might also work with it...

Re: The unofficial Rock Band thread.

Funny thing about the Midi controller - I read that the Pro-mode guitars use them to connect to the systems so they'll come with one? Not sure if that's true or not though.

I love it, the RB forums must've exploded....

They need to go back to releasing more rock and metal. I mean, how can Rock Band 3 possibly compete with Guitar Hero 6 and their all new... story mode?
