I'm pretty sure they're all out of work besides Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper... poor Victor Garber can't catch a break with a new TV show.

new spy series
Undercovers = NBC
Nikita = CW

ABC doesn't have one. awww.

ways to create a new series that could resonate with the kind of audience Lost had
"would most likely not include any sort of complex mythological throughline such as the Rambaldi prophecy."
From the IGN article.
Good I did not like that mythology. I liked the first 2 seasons and then the whole mythology really took over.

Look ABC making "Charlie's Angels" reboot why don't they just adapt that?
don't forget Chuck

CBS is also in negotiations to pick up the spy drama Chaos for midseason, and USA has a spy series called Covert Affairs (starring Piper Perabo) in the works. Spy shows were all the rage this development season.

Alias was never that big, certainly never as big as LOST. It's weird that they are doing a reboot.

Because links are so much easier for the needs of the many.
Chaos revolves around a group of rogue CIA operatives led by Rick Martinez, who is played by Freddy Rodriguez, combating bureaucratic gridlock, rampant incompetence and political infighting. Without a Trace alum Eric Close has also signed onto the drama pilot.
Brett Ratner directed drama pilot Chaos for Fox.

'Covert Affairs’ stars Perabo as Annie Walker, a CIA trainee who is abruptly promoted to field operative – because, yet unbeknownst to her, a shady ex-boyfriend (played by Eion Bailey, ‘ER’) is a person of interest to the Feds.

Tim Matheson directed the 90 minute pilot

It looks like Alias-lite. And I mean that as a compliment. The trailer doesn’t look quite as serious and complicated as Alias, but it’s not as comedic and silly as Chuck can sometimes be either. Take Alias before it got lost in the impenetrable Rambaldi mythology, add some characters approved, breezy humor and you’ve got what appears to be a happy medium. Perabo even bares a slight resemblance to Jennifer Garner in her early Sydney Bristow years with her square jaw, pouty lips and all-American girl looks.

July 13 premiere date on USA.

Dollhouse had this type of action but also had the scifi elements.

Re: Spy shows

Alias may not have been a big ratings success, but that doesn't mean it's okay to go ahead and re-make the show, especially so soon! I liked the original. Why not just create a random new spy show? I doubt it would be difficult.

I LOVE Piper Perabo.
Emmanuelle Vaugier is also on the show. Recurring character, I think.

He's also been Will's dad on Glee.

Not sure how I feel about ALIAS being resurrected. I loved the first two seasons, and slowly middled out on the rest. Granted, the series left wide room open for a renewal or continuation, so I guess as long as they stayed within the continuity of the show it would be fine? I don't know ... just seems rather pointless to remake the show, less than five years after it ended, and starting from the beginning. Then again, the major downside of this is you can't bring back Victor Garber or Ron Rifkin.

Maybe set the show in the near future and make it about Isabella?

As for the question about ABC 'bringing back the early 2000s' come on, melodrama much? Clearly it's a business decision for them, and apart from resurrecting pilots from the previous year that simply didn't get picked up, I don't know that I'd be complaining about a show people liked being brought back.

If anything, maybe we'll finally get Giacchino to release albums for the final three season soundtracks.

The whole remake thing has pretty much reached the level of self-parody. Pretty soon, the mid-season replacements will be reboots of the Fall season failures.

And, anyway, the Rambaldi stuff was my favorite part of the show.

Yep. They remade the whole movie with an all-black (or mostly all-black, I haven't seen the re-make) cast.
