All the people being suggested are too old! Find someone around 20 years old.

People aren't talking about the young male lead. They're talking about the character played by Roddy McDowell in the original, who was an old, has-been horror movie actor.

Maybe Robert Englund or Christopher Lee?
Hopefully it isn't too physical, Lee is pushing 90.

What's going on? Casting call for a World War II veteran on Smallville?

Thought this was about "Friday Night Lights" at first, and was really confused. I like Yelchin, so I'd be willing to check this out.

There certainly do seem to be a lot of vampire flicks lately though, I'm hoping this trend is going to scale back a bit and we're going to see these metered back and will only get "cool" ones from now on, instead of just be inundated with everything vampire.

Well, at least this might net us a decent special edition of the original on Blu-ray. Not much hope other than that.

Anybody else remember the original novelization by Skipp & Spector? I think I still have a copy in a box somewhere . . . .

I read the novel before I saw the movie. And several times afterwards. The novel made me want to see the movie, so goal accomplished there.

When people post a thread like this here instead of SF&F, I hate them a little bit. Just so you know. Not out of a fetish for categorization, but because I like seeing them in my forum.

Anyway, I like Greg's idea of Robert Englund. I think Lee's probably too old for the physicality, but I suppose you never know. He seems like a healthy guy.

I don't see the point of making it 3D, though.

Elvira...that's who should be the horror host.

John C. Reilly?

This is gonna be a comedy remake right?

There's always Michael Caine.

Or Peter O'Toole.

Or maybe Sigourney Weaver or someone playing an "Elvira" like character?

Yelchin should play the vampire.

Pretty much any competent under eighteen actor could do the juvenile lead. The kid from Breaking Bad comes to mind, he does a terrific job as a cerebral palsy victim. R.J. Mitte?

Screw the Peter Vincent role. That kind of Vincent Price plumminess is hard to come by, outdated and not intrinsically necessary.

The real difficulty, which I'm surprised you guys didn't notice, is casting Evil Ed.

Too old, unfortunately, but I could see Seth Green in the role.
