Re: Hi from a newbie :) Please read my babble
![]() So, female perspective......... does the technical/psuedo science stuff get in the way of the plotlines and characters, or do you enjoy both? I found that my girly can get into it in a "soap opera" sense and enjoys the stories whenever she does watch one, but the technobabble puts her off a bit. Right............. im off to convert more TNG episodes to watch on my PSP for those quiet moments at work

Re: Hi from a newbie :) Please read my babble
Let's see the toys, the publicity blitz etc etc. I think a new animated show is far more probably than a live TV series at this point, and potentially a lot better for the franchise. Something set in the 23rd century? Star Trek: Titan? Something else? Doesn't matter - just make it good!!

Ramble away. There seems to be a fair bit of that around here.

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread
I'm primarily a fan of TNG and DS9. Old enough to have watched TOS, but never did until recently (thank you, Netflix). Looking forward to being back. Gotta go find myself an avatar... |

![]() You'll be able to get an avatar once you've hit 50 posts and 2 weeks, I believe. So I gather from the name that you're a fan of Cardassians? (And Bajorans?)

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread
I'm more a fan of Ziyal than of Cardassians or Bajorans in general. With her history, she could've been a real mess, but instead she turned out strong and artistic and, as you said, nice. I enjoyed the relationship between her and Kira. |

As good as the characters and plots are, I can't imagine watching it if I didn't also enjoy the "technical/pseudo science stuff". |

Re: Welcome Fellow Trekkies! The GTD Get to Know You thread
![]() I have this half-crazy theory about Ziyal's personality and her choices, too...and why Dukat couldn't bear to kill her. It's my belief that Dukat's personality actually could've ended up a lot like hers, if he hadn't made all the wrong choices, used all the tired old excuses, and twisted himself into the monster he became. You get flashes of it when Ziyal's around, of the "old personality," but he never can shake off his self-delusions and take responsibility for himself. But for just moments at a time, I feel like Dukat was seeing a reflection of who he could have become and now could never truly touch. (I would PM you this next part, but seeing as you don't have PM capability yet, I'll go ahead and tell you that I explore an alter-Dukat in my fanfic, specifically in the Sigils and Unions: Catacombs of Oralius subseries.)
