It's hard for me to list all the movies I've seen because half of the year I had a lot of time on my hands.

Re: Movies Seen in 2009

Last movie I watched in 2009 was 1939's "Bringing Up Baby". 60 years after being made, it held up very well. Saw it on the plane (which has a 'classics' movie section) on the way to my vacation. One of the many Cary Grant-starring movies I've enjoyed in recent years that is highlighted by delightful banter between he and a female co-star.

The plot deliberately gets ridiculously convoluted and its complications and the relentless banter get a little tiresome at points, but overall it's a throughly enjoyable movie. The ending seems a bit too pat and convenient, but the performances from start to finish were lovely, so I'm glad I saw it.

Sure, 2009 may be so last week, but the hell with it, I'm gonna put my list up now... because I can. These are the films released in 2009 that I saw last year (at the cinema or on video, so it doesn't include older films I recently watched for the first time on TV):

Outlander (B-)

Push (C-)

Watchmen (B+)

Sunshine Cleaning (B)

Knowing (B-)

Monsters vs. Aliens (C+)

State of Play (B)

Mutant Chronicles (D+)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (B-)

Star Trek (A-)

Angels & Demons (B-)

Terminator Salvation (C+)

Up (B+)

Drag Me To Hell (B)

The Hangover (B)

The Taking of Pelham 123 (C)

Moon (A-)

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (D-)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (B)

The Children (B)

Trick ‘r Treat (B+)

District 9 (B+)

The Time Traveler’s Wife (B)

Battle for Terra (B-)

A Perfect Getaway (B-)

Ponyo (C+)

Inglorious Basterds (B+)

Halloween II (D+)

Gamer (D+)

9 (B)

Whiteout (C-)

Jennifer’s Body (B)

Surrogates (C+)

The Hole (B+)

The Road (A-)

Still a few movies from 2009 that I intend to see soon, like Avatar (maybe tonight, depending on my timetable), Sherlock Holmes, Up in the Air, and perhaps some others... but I guess I'll save them for the 2010 thread.

Re: Movies Seen in 2009

^ Really? Hm, I've never thought so. Actually, it usually doesn't take much for a movie to keep me more or less entertained for a couple of hours. Of course, even if it accomplishes this, that doesn't necessarily make it a good movie... just not a terrible one.

And hey, I can't be that harsh -- I didn't even give any film an F... although I was very tempted to do so in the case of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Re: Movies Seen in 2009

I just gave about 5 films from 2009 an A+. I did give three Fs... the most deserving of which was Land of the Lost.

Pontypool [A-] What a cool low-budget zombie flick. Highly recommended.
I don't know of any pontypool zombie movie, there was a movie called pontypool set in canada, but that wasn't about zombies.

Don't play semantics. It was a movie with flesh-eating hordes of people.
