Do you buy Christmas presents

for your pets and if yes - what sort of things do you buy them?

Any suggestions on what I can get my cats? Last year I spent over $100 on a cat tower as a combined Xmas/10th birthday present for Miss Chicken and she barely uses it.

I must confess I see absolutely no point in buying Christmas presents for PETS.

Oh, we always buy presents for them. They even have stockings! They're like little kids they get so excited.

I get something for my little sister; does that count?

We usually buy our pets "treats" that they can eat. Sometimes my mom gets the cats new collars, which I am sure just delights them to no end. I remember one year the aquarium needed a new water pump, and my dad jokingly bought one, stuck it under the tree with a label that read "To: the fish".

I don't have pets at the moment, but if I did, I'd buy them a little something - a toy or treat, or something.

My dog always gets something for Christmas... usually a toy or a bone.

Yes, we do. We usually give her a little toy that she can bat around as she's not really into cat treats.

Re: Do you buy Christmas presents

The doggies always get at least a nice rawhide bone under the tree. This year we have a new dog, still basically a gigantic puppy, so I'm thinking she'll get her bone when the humans sit down to dinner just so we'll have a few minutes of peace and quiet. It their toys and squeaky things are getting ratty, they might get a new one from Santa. Why? Because dogs know when you love them. :-)

Oh, yeah, we always got our Cats something; each one always had his or her own stocking. They would get some Pounce or a toy or something. Also, they got to play with the bows and wrapping paper.

I think it depends a lot on who your pets are and what their place in your life is. My brother has 5 acres with alpacas and dogs to chase away the coyotes. It would never occur to him to buy his dogs presents. I live in a regular house. My dog sleeps on the sofa and is a family member. It would kill me to not get a little something for my fuzzy buddy.

Yeah, pets are probably more interested in the wrapping paper than the actual gift.

Re: Do you buy Christmas presents

When I had a dog in my teenage years, yes! He got so excited around christmas. He was a labrador, fairly big and well built, but most gentle and playful.

He loved opening things, and was in his element laying down with a taped up cardboard box with a few biscuits rattling around inside. He'd have his paws around it, teeth and saliva wearing away one corner. Sometimes he'd get up and walk around with it in clenched in his mouth showing it to each of us and wagging his tail merrily.

Christmas morning he was as excited as we were. He'd be dancing back and to, nudging at the parcels with his nose, remembering our strange early morning ritual from previous christmases no doubt.

He actually liked helping us open our parcels. If I had one on my knee, he'd come over and want to help me unwrap it. But understanding that it was mine, and that thee contents was mine, so was always self-restrained in his helping, but excited and eager about the whole unwrapping thing.

So yes, after I realised he liked chewing open boxes and enjoyed christmas morning, I always made him a few well taped up parcels of his own to open in later years.

Every Christmas I usually make time to buy our dog a big box of dog biscuits. She's too old for anything exciting now - she's also too old to do her usual thing of collecting the post from the front door - but she still will not say no to a jumbo box of Bonio.
