I'd be more inclined to go see a film because Garrett Wang was in it than because Shatner was in it. You can't miss someone if they're everywhere, all the time...

That aside, I don't really have a problem with Shatner being in the next film. He certainly can't make it any more campy than it's already bound to be, and I'm interested in seeing his 'Kirk' after so long.

I like the Idea of a "Holographic Kirk" Based off of Old Spock's memory of Mind Melding with him. Spock created him for helping him with making tough decisions and to toss ideas off of (offshoot of EMH and the processed used to create Denara Pel in Voyager).

They could encounter Khan and Spock uses the device to consult with and of course the device is destroyed in the film Heroically, it would be cool to use.

Maybe Have Khan kidnap Kirk and he Dares Spock to open fire at him with Kirk on his vessel and Kirk turns into "Shatner Kirk" who then says "Surprise!" (it was the Hologram they swapped Kirk out with). And they blow Khan's ship to kingdom come along with the Hologram....

Something along those lines.

Shatner could advise his younger self and him and Pine could work together to save the universe. They could also throw in Khan in as well what do you think of that idea

Gene Roddenberry once said that he didn't do everything the fans wanted him to do because that would have been prostitution, just because Shatner and some fans want it doesn't mean it could work or should be done, it could easily take a person out of the film and ruin the experience for eveyone save for the few fans who wanted him there.

Shatner is so far-removed from Kirk and has become such a comedic personality that I don't think I (or even him) could take it very seriously.

And forgive me, but let's face it, LOOK at Shatner.
