Re: Movies Seen in 2009

Went to see The Fourth Kind Thursday night...it was alright, though they tried to hard to sell the idea of it bein' a "true" story.

No clue what my next movie will be, but I am hopin' to get into a big screen presentation of the Caprica pilot tonight.

Re: Movies Seen in 2009

I went to see The Imaginarium of Doctor Pernassus the other day. Decent film, but there was just something off about it that stopped it being a great film. But I would still recommend it to any Gilliam fans

I saw the CAPRICA pilot on the big screen tonight (and got autographs from Esai Morales & Jeffrey Reiner)!

Still countin' it, even though I already watched it on DVD when it came out.

Just went and saw Astro Boy -- and I was the only person in the theatre. Which I guess isn't totally unexpected, given it's unimpressive performance at the box office this past weekend.

I liked the film -- some of the humour was a bit inappropriately silly at times, I felt, but overall it's good fun, plus it's a great-looking movie. I'll give it a B.

Oh yeah, I also saw Zombieland last week. I thought it was a hoot, if not overly subversive. B+.

New movies:

Star Trek (2009) [Loved it, absolutely loved it!]

Starship Troopers [Classic favorite of mine]
Knowing [First viewing - I enjoyed it very much, actually]
Men In Black [Who doesn't love TLJ & WS catching aliens?]
Rush Hour [My most favorite of the trilogy]

The Tall T [Classic Randolph Scott picture]
Black Sheep [Always a corker, I love this movie]
Talladega Nights [Ricky Bobby!]
Fast Times at Ridgemont High [Who ordered a pepperoni pizza? "Right here, dude!"]
Click [Fair movie, Christopher Walken alone makes it work watching]
Small Soldiers [Great movie from when I was a kid]
Hot Shots Part Deux! [I love a good piss take]
Down Periscope [Kelsey Grammar as a rebellious commander. What's not to love?]
Star Trek TMP [I watched all these...]

Shanghai Noon [Loved it. Chong Wang? That's a stupid name for a cowboy!]
Shanghai Knights [Got to see it for the first time, loved it]
School of Rock [Great for those of us who were in a band]
The Day the Earth Stood Still [Original 1953 Michael Rennie version]
The Day The Earth Stood Still [New Keanu Reeves version]
Cash Back [First viewing - Terrific]
Wall-E [Cry every time I see this movie]
The Iron Giant [Yeah, I cry, so what of it! ]
The Simpsons Movie [I have wore this DVD out - ]

An American Werewolf in London -- 6/10 -- I didn't mind this film persay, but it's definitely not one of my favorites. I saw it with a friend recently. Didn't like most of the acting... it was rather over the top . But the cinematography and effects were nice (that's why it's getting a score of 6/10 instead of a 4/10).

As for the music/soundtrack to the film, it was pretty good.

Overall, I consider it a horror/comedic farce kind of movie.

Bolt [I love this movie. I cried and laughed and cried. If Disney can keep this up, they'll get a good CG reputation like Pixar].

Personally I thought it was one of the scarier horror movies I've seen in a long time... Mostly because a lot of it was left to your imagination. That's not to say it was really scary, I just don't find horror movies scary most of the time.
