DS9 and B5 - two of my favorite shows. I love popping into tomalak301's thread.
I'm glad there is much participation in that thread. If there wasn't I probably wouldn't be talking about every episode.

i think there's so much participation because your summaries/commentaries are so good.

Re: Niners Unite...around Babylon 5! - The Lost Threads

Well, inspired by sykonee, I've decided, I'm going to do it: I'm going to start a parallel chronological DS9 rewatch and B5 first time watch (so far I've only seen The Gathering and The Midnight on the Firing Line, a few months ago, but didn't find the time to continue).

In the meantime, I've found out that Babylon 5 is by ar the most searched term on Trek BBS:

I find it fun to see what some of the other most searched terms include crap, khaaaaan!, more beer! and the women!.

Not quite the most searched, but the most tagged, to be sure.

Re: Niners Unite...around Babylon 5! - The Lost Threads

Just curious, do we still need this thread stickied? Doesn't seem to get much action and there is currently a lot of talk about the show in the Scifi Forum lately.

Personally, I got so excited that Farscape was being rereleased that I've been watching that lately. I'll get back to B5 later on of course (Stopped a little before the Severed Dreams two parter, even though I went through the series completely in August/September) but right now I'm on a bit of a Farscape high. I'm not asking for a "Niners Unite...Around Farscape" or anything but that actually would be nice. I just know this current thread hasn't seen anything for 2 months and I'm wondering why it's still stickied.

Farscape <3 DS9 <3 and B5 <3 thats a new one though I woulda thought it woulda been correlated to BSG,both the old and new one since so many things coalesce between B5 and BSG.

Well, so far, I've watched the pilot movie and the first eight episodes...my favorite quote would be the one from G'Kar, when he picked the ant up from the flower in 'Mind War' (I think).

I'd have to pop the DVD back in to get the exact quote, though.
Love that one too (love just about anything that came out of G'Kar's mouth really --- I know it was JMS, but Andreas delivered the lines with a gravity and a sincerity that few others can, or could).

To clear it up: G'Kar is talking to Catherine Sakai about the beings which dwell near Sigma 957 (which we now know are/were the First Ones). He asks her "What do you call these creatures?" She replies they are ants. "Ant," he says thoughtfully, and carefully and gently picks one up.
"There", he says, "I have just picked one up on the tip of my finger. If I now put it back down (he does), and another ant asks it "What was that?", how should it know what to answer?" (That may not be perfect: I'm ging from memory here).

Beautiful, beautiful writing, so simple and yet so deep it frequently made me want to cry.

Again, G'Kar: "If the symmetry were any more perfect, I believe one of us would break down in tears!"

And now that I've had time to think about it, well you have to mention Kosh, dont'cha?

"The avalanche has already begun. It is too late for the pebbles to vote."

"I will not be with you when you go to Zha'dum"
(Sheridan) "All right, if that's the price then ok. If you want to withhold your help when the time comes, I can live with that."
"You do not understand. But you will."

"You are not ready for immortality."

Re: Niners Unite...around Babylon 5! - The Lost Threads

I've only scanned this thread, (I read the first two or three pages then skipped to the end) I see Marcus Cole's line from 'Ceremonies of Light and Dark' about the two-by-four has been quoted, but I rather liked the line that either preceeded or followed it (I've not watched B5 in a while).

"Sure, which would you like, an arm, a leg. I'm afraid we're all out of broken hearts, we've had a run on those."
Marcus Cole - "Ceremonies of Light and Dark"

Last edited by Teiwaz; March 25 2010 at 01:37 AM. Reason: Was the prequel line or the follow up?

B5 -- Fabulous! I now own all of 'em including the film about the rangers that was dumped on by the critics. Sure it wasn't as good as the original show, but it was part of the B5 universe.
