I do think a costume is very likely, but I'm not so sure that it would be red and blue.
I also think Tom showing up for the Con is possible, but not wearing the suit. That would be embarrassing.
I don't think they're showing anyone any "previews" or anything like that.
And the finale is called "Savior" not "Superman" so I'm already skeptical about AICN's "sources" right there. Remember anyone can make stuff up.

I will say this much - I do believe there is a suit. That's exactly what I was referring to about the "new approach." But I don't think it'll look much like *the* suit. Maybe I'm wrong.

Welling needs to embrace his destiny twice as much as Clark Fucking Kent.

Well making the costume leather and skipping the cape allows them to keep to their "No tights, no flights" silliness.

Warner bros reps are grabbing random people at the show and giving them a sneak peek at the new Superman costume for Smallville Me and friends were grabbed by one girl (details below) and taken to a room (down the stairs next to the giant starbucks) and shown it.

it's gobsmackingly awesome! no spandex it looked like leather, its one suit, the top is blue at front and back, red on sides and arms, the trousers are blue at the front and back, red at sides. the superman symbol on the chest protruding out, its red. no cape. it was on a stand we could walk around.

There were no photos allowed, but the lady (name Rosie, slightly bigger build, brown hair) said we could tell others at show, to build hype. They're showing random people the suit throughout today, tomorrow and Saturday, and sunday Tom Welling is flying in just to wear it when its unveilled at for Smallville presentation on sunday.

Almost sounds like this...

I always kind of assumed it would show up eventually.

Still, I've seen exactly two episodes in the show's entire run, and that's probably not going to change anytime soon.

Tom Welling is flying in just to wear it when its unveilled at for Smallville presentation on sunday.

Also, Welling is known for being very media-shy. For him to come to one of his first cons (if not his first) - and one of the biggest cons of the year - dressed in a Superman costume would be very unlikely.

I am not saying that it is out of the realm of possibility, nor that it might happen in the show. I would just be surprised to learn if he comes to the con wearing the costume.

Its been known for a few weeks now that the premire episode of nine will be called Savior and yes Kelly did have an interview where she stated that we would see the sheild at some point this season. Since Clark "Killed" himself in the season eight finale its possible he will return as Superman like figure.
