I'll trust the 94% Tomatometer rating and the glowing reviews from horror sites more than the guy who said The Office has never made him laugh.

I'm going to try and see it this weekend. I'm not reading this whole thread though as I don't even know the premise of the film yet and i'm hoping to keep it that way.

I'm probably in a minority here, but I think the 3 spiderman movies have represented a creative low for Raimi. They were pretty good, better than most Superhero movies, of which I am not a particular fan, but generally pretty bland generic hollywood fare.

I'm hoping for the return of Raimi's gleeful bastardness that was all over the Evil Dead movies, Crimewave and Darkman.

Pingfah, this is definitely a return to form for Raimi and in my personal opinion the movie he needed to make after all those bloated Spider-Man films. As much as I do anticipate his return to Spider-Man, being the comic-book fan that I am, a part of me wishes Raimi would just stick to low budget, high concept horror films like DRAG ME TO HELL for the remainder of his career. Alas.

Jeez, that's just sad. I checked out some of the yahoo user reviews, and it looks like there are a lot of people (teens probably) who don't get Raimi's style at ALL.

The only thing they seem to know is stuff that's really dark like Saw, or an outright spoof like Scary Movie. lol

Eh, you know what man, those Evil Dead movies did nothing for me, I don't even think I've sat through any of the films in their entirety. I'll skip this new horror picture film.

I'm hoping to see the movie this weekend (all the mixed reviews in the thread are driving me crazy). For those of you that are Raimi fans - thought you might appreciate this...

I'm working with FEARnet.com and we thought it'd be fun to revisit Raimi's classics before seeing 'Drag Me to Hell'. So, we decided to stream 'Evil Dead 2' on the site for free.

The American version of The Office made me laugh, once. The bit with all of Dwight's stuff in the vendin' machine, includin' his own wallet so he couldn't get any of his office supplies out...that was some funny shit.

Never have seen the British original.

Does my opinion carry more weight now?

As I have no other friends who enjoy horror movies as I do...I'll probably wait until Drag Me To Hell comes out on DVD to see it. Been wanting to see it since I first heard about it last year, the trailers look great and the subject matter is right up my ally so it will be a DVD rental.

It was a stand up film. Nothing classic like the Evil Dead films, and I saw the twist at the end coming a mile away, but it was good fun. Didn't realize Ted Raimi played the doctor until the end credits rolled, though. Too bad Bruce couldn't have a small cameo, though it probably would have ruined the mood as much as seeing Raimi's signature car over and over again.
