I had played with a number of screen illustration ideas before reaching that one... here are a couple of the rejected ideas.

I don't know why, but I am consistently unable to see any of the images that Shaw posts. They sound so good!

Was the bottom image by any chance inspired by the insignia Commodore Wesley wore in TOS?

Actually at the time I made it I hadn't seen the similarity, but you are right, they look quite a like.

The surface being displayed in that image is the same one I'm currently using for my avatar (seen from a different angle).
