Simon Pegg mentions the Austin screening in his latest blog post - and there's even a reaction from his Spaced alter-ego:

Tim Bisley wrote:

This film is fucking brilliant!!! Sorry it took me a while to post this but I wet myself and was sick down my t-shirt because I was so excited and in love with this fucking movie which is brilliant. Did I say it was brilliant? I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and my faith in Science Fiction cinema has been restored. In your face Jar Jar you idiotic nonsense fucksmack. Live long and prosper all the fucking way I say!!! Oh god I can't stop crying! I have to call Mike!

Looking at this picture, Paramount could have used the architecture of the Opera House to their advantage, and placed the Trek logo on building.

*Unless they tried and couldn't get permission.

Well, Fat Harry over at AICN makes a point which is really rather obvious but he does it so succinctly in his Fat Harry style that it bears quoting:

All the doubting thomases should pay attention to one thing! Paramount is having HIGH PROFILE screenings beginning on April 6th in Austin and April 7th in Australia... and for the next 30 days leading up to release - they'll be screening this movie around the world. Here in the U.S. and throughout Asia and Europe - and even to US Troops in the Gulf.

This is only something a studio does when they know they have A BIG DICK! They whip it out and show it a bunch, because THIS DICK DOES NOT COME UP SHORT!

And Cogley's avatar makes more and more sense...

Yes. It all is starting to make sense. I breathed in the pollen.

I was right to start the Rock penis thread...

It seems that though its physical presence is absent from the film, it's spirit was preserved !

Ok, I can't believe it took me this long but I have to ask those who saw the film...

Was Captain Robau a badass ? ?

I think the most important question is...

Is the Enterprise viewscreen also a window!?

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

How about the Enterprise bridge ? How is it ?
Is it just like what we've seen in the pictures and the panoramas or is it better/worse when in live action with people in it ?

Actually, the idea that we might be able to look at this thing and not be able to sort it into a category we "get" - viewscreen or window? - is pretty "futuristic" in itself.

"So, these 'light bulbs' - are they candles, or torches, or oil lamps?"
