The linux developers are behind creating cylons IRL...

I posted this in a reply to the news article in a thread, but a thread didn't really match the story, and I wanted to contribute a laugh, so:

Does she look familiar, out of the last minute of the series or so, perhaps? Well here's why:
Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has demonstrated a Linux-based humanoid robot that will perform in a fashion show next week. The HRP-4C runs the robotics-focused hard real-time ART-Linux distro, which was released this week for Linux 2.6xx under GPL.

Why do I blame Linux for leading us to a 12 colonies-like holocaust? Well Microsoft started the whole idea:

Operating Systems were created by man.

They rebelled.

They evolved. There are many copies (distros?).

And they have a plan!

Much like the BSG Cylons, trying to find a "plan" in the disparate world of Linux distros will lead you to believe they're making it up on the fly.

Important question: Does her spine glow red when she's being frakked?

Her beta o/s did, but in 1.0, the devs soon got rid of that feature because it was causing a lot of turn-offs and "shrinkage"

I watched a YouTube video of the HRP-4C here:

Aside from the fact that she sounds like an ATAT walker from Star Wars when she walks(), it's amazing the progress that's being made.

I've read that for years, one of the largest problems with these things is getting them to walk properly. It takes a lot of processing power to move all those parts at exactly the right time.
