Re: The hierarchy of Star Trek canonuity.
1) TOS, TNG, DS9 2) ENT (Only lower by virtue of technological inconsistency and a few inconsistent events. But overall, it fits... decently.) 3) Behind the scenes info, original intent, concept designs, etc. 4) Literature 5) TAS 6) Comics 7) Games 8) Fanfic and other fanony things. 9) Miscelleanous tie-in (like the thing at the Star Trek Adventure where you got put in your own episode. Various commercials featuring Star Trek over the years.) 10) Various spoofs (SNL, Star Wreck, etc.) 11) Common public misconceptions ("Star Trak", "Doctor Spock") 12) Turkish Star Trek 13) Star Trek V

TAS. Published books and comics insofar as they do not directly contradict the above. Nothing else.

Re: The hierarchy of Star Trek canonuity.
Movies Novels Comics Gaming materials. The TV shows are the source of all. The movies sometimes get things wrong - Klingons have no tear ducts/Klingon blood is Pepto Bismal pink. The novels do the nice job occasionally of fixing continuity and canon errors between various episodes and the movies, too. The comics and games augment series canon most of the time. |
