The Kelvin carried 800 people? Yikes. Must be a lot bigger than we thought. The 1701-D carried only a little over one thousand, and it doesn't even exist for another 130-odd years.
The Kelvin looks pretty small, smaller than the Constitution class, but has double its crew.

Quantum mechanics, probably.

Nobody said all 800 were on the Kelvin or that they were all the Kelvin's crew.
Maybe they were spread in other ships, a starbase, a colony etc

Those early 23rd century science starships must be cramped as hell. They probably make the corridors of Archer's Enterprise feel like a gymnasium.

Are we sure its just the Kelvin when Nero arrives? or is it a small group of ships that the Kelvin hangs back to provide cover fire for as they Warp away?

Then those other ships are a bunch of assholes.

The Kelvin feels like one of those ships whose toy will be more popular in some circles than the Enterprise's.

Re: Daddy Kirk (spoilers probably)

Didn't Winona Kirk remain alive up to the TOS era in the novels of the 80s and 90s?

Where is Kirk's brother through all of this? Is he even in the movie?

My guess is some actor will play him in a brief appearance when Kirk is growing up or leaving for the Academy...that, or he'll be mentioned if nothing else. Too many fans both hardcore and passing remember Kirk had an older brother.

I think it is about time we got a look at this hero...

He really looks like the father of Kirk.

Re: Daddy Kirk (spoilers probably)

Not only does he sorta look like Shatner. He dies like the Shat would want to.

Overacting. Surrounded by flames.
