Re: Ambassador class
The deck count could jump up and down depending what the ship needs. Now you can have tanks at the bottom of the ship, that takes up the space of 1 1/2 decks or maybe two decks, which would look like one large deck. Also the jefferies tubes, maybe the ones on the Enterprise-C are larger then the ones on the Enterprise-D or B. That too could give you a low deck count. I love even numbers, so I would go 30, but I have no problem with 31 or even 32.

Can someone post a link to that discussion for us to see? I may not be remembering correctly. |

http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=82068 Apparently, we should hold off on that for now and stay with 526 meters. |

Re: Ambassador class
In that drawing, at least, Rick Sternbach's drawing has a pointer to a torp launcher pretty much where I have put in my cutaway rather than up in the neck. I do recall comments in past weeks about moving it up, but I don't really remember the source. Anyway, the article has some beautiful pictures and interesting background info, and includes those early sketches. Here's the link: http://drexfiles.wordpress.com/2009/...torial-deluxe/ |

Re: Ambassador class
http://www.starshipdatalink.net/art/images/dec-2.gif The actual model doesn't have a torp launcher muzzle anywhere, of course - but there's a beauty shot of the ship where the base of the neck features very bright white lights where there is no window. This could be argued to be the launcher with the covers slid back for action. ![]() Who knows, perhaps the whole ribbed forward edge of the neck is one big rolling door, optionally revealing only the lowermost launcher, or then two, or three, or then all six of them vertically stacked? ![]() Timo Saloniemi |
