Re: I'm disappointed!

How do we even know this is the Earth they were searching for. All we know is Starbuck got a signal in a revamped Viper that lead the fleet to this planet. They assumed it was the earth in their sacred texts. Did the constellations match what Adama and friends saw in that season 1 or 2 episode? It was never mentioned. Its BSG, who knows what the hell is going on

Actually the Constellations did match.

When did they say that the constellations matched? I think I must have missed that part of the episode.

We (as in viewers) could see Orion on two separate instances:

- When the Rebel Basestar arrived at the ambush and
- When Cally looked at the porthole, prior her airlock trip...

After they jumped to Earth Gaeta was checking the constellations and then confirmed they matched then they had the celebration scene.

^ I'd forgotten about that. It's been such a long time since I've seen any of season 4.0, probably since it first aired.

And I agree with others here, they'll get back to the Earth stuff just as soon as this mutiny is over and done with. The mutiny is the natural progression following the reveal of the nuked Earth, and trying to delve too deeply into Earth's mythology before the mutiny could be played out would have diluted it's effectiveness.

At this point, I'm thinking the Cylon jump drives plot is just a way for the RTF to get back to Earth quickly when that storyline is ramped back up again.
