I never really thought of it as a debate, just a difference of perception. I don't much care for Sharma, and my mental image of Jasminder is based on a real person I met once who helped me out with a difficult situation. Or on my somewhat idealized memory of her.

The one actress I've specifically suggested for the part (though not my ideal choice) is Janina Gavankar, who's 5'7", about halfway between Sharma's height and the height I had in mind. Which strikes me as a fair compromise.

^ It's a lot easier for us to do shows that are proximate to wear we live. There's a reason why most of the conventions that TerriO and I go to are on the east coast of the U.S.

If someone's willing to pay our way to England, we'd be happy to go, but that's really the only way it's in the cards on the money we (don't) make.....

Apropos of nothing, but I wonder what you've seen Sharma in? I crushed on her when I first saw her in her recurring role as police computer nerd Stella on John Doe, to the point that I used the character/look for some of my own creations despite rarely using 'mental casting'. When she started on BSG, the transition from nerd to glamn was so thorough I didn't even recognize her until I stumbled across the fact that it was the same actress while playing on IMDB one day. Tory Foster is so cold, to the point of being insensate, that I've never been able to warm to the character, but the actress herself has a lot more range than her BSG character lets on.

And money or lack there of is a reason I haven't been across that pond yet.

I know that Keith has already pegged Arlo Guthrie as Sonek Pran but, just in case he's unavailable for filming, I can't get the image of Ron Glass out of my head as I sit here reading a Singular Destiny. He's got that great affable quality and like Pran, (at least as Shepard Book) he's got a whole lot of "snow on the roof" and I can totally picture him with a banjo.

Right now, yes.

However, I fully intend to do a proper launch for my original series in Dublin in the next year or so. So at some point by the end of 2010, I fully intend to at least make it back to Ireland. That's the plan, anyway.

KRAD? Depends on whether they let him back in the UK after the Glasgow WorldCon. They don't take very kindly to trying to consume all the single malt in Scotland, just for the record.
