Besides, it looks a lot like the Romulan ships from ENT: http://ent.trekcore.com/gallery/albu...united_183.jpg http://ent.trekcore.com/gallery/albu.../aenar_301.jpg http://ent.trekcore.com/gallery/albu.../aenar_300.jpg

Re: First Clear Picture of the Narada *Warning: Spoilers*
But I'm sick of reading: "Oh, that's sooooo Galaxy Quest... It sucks." GQ copied a lot of the look of Trek and tried to make it look "real" for the big screen -- that is, they made the movie looks like a bunch of aliens saw an old sci-fi show and turned what they saw into reality. It is no surprise that updating TOS to make it look "real" has shades of GQ to it.

Re: First Clear Picture of the Narada *Warning: Spoilers*
It's definitely too late to go back now. So don't try.

Re: First Clear Picture of the Narada *Warning: Spoilers*
I quite like it when Trek goes up against UnTrek. V'Ger looked nothing like anything in Trek before or since. I get kind of tired of how every race seems to have slightly different foreheads, warp nacelles, bubble shields, and beam + projectile weapon systems. |

Ten Trek points to whoever knows what movie I'm paraphrasing!

Re: First Clear Picture of the Narada *Warning: Spoilers*
Nothing in this film is visually designed to fit snugly into the old continuity. It's meaningless to look at a prop, or a set or a model and ask "how does this fit between X and Y that we've seen" or say "this is out of place next to thus-and-such a thing that came before" because everything has been redesigned for this film. The very premise that everything can be charted in its place in previous Trek design is a mistaken one. They are using what makes sense to them to use and changing what they choose to change. It is that simple.
