Oh good, more caption contest fodder. Here I was worried I wouldn't have enough until the trailer dropped in November.

JJ Abrams
"For me, the costumes were a microcosm of the entire project, which was how to take something that's kind of silly and make it feel real. But how do you make legitimate those near-primary colour costumes? How do you make legitimate the pointy ears and the bowl haircut? It's ridiculous and as potentially cliched as it gets. How do you watch Galaxy Quest and then go make a Star Trek movie?"
With this attitude, he shouldn't have been let anywhere near Star Trek.

Next time, they need to get Richard Donner.

Haha, look at the look on Sulu's face. He's like... "Holy shit, WHAT did you just say we're going to do?"

Quinto's Spock looks REALLY good. HOW am I going to wait until this thing comes out?

I thought this was neat:

Empire Magazine new film pics

Just been on www.empireonline.com. Two new pics from Star Trek XI and the magazine has a cover story on the new film. Out Thursday. Has anyone else seen this? Not even mentioned on trekmovie site!

Looks like Kirk is talking to Chief Engineer Olsen (Greg Ellis) in the shuttle pic.

And they appear to be seated in the dirty shuttle we've seen before.

I like these new pictures and as a long time fan and someone who is really supportive of this new movie I am very encouraged.

I also think the idea of a window wish also operates as a view screen is a cool idea and can really emphasize how technology has changed.

Re: Empire Magazine pics!

I think you make a great point. I have seen the maps on CNN and I have seen keyboards from computers made as touch screens using light. So if they want to make Trek look real and updated they couldn't just redecorate that old bridge it needed to be redesigned. But I think it has been redesigned with similar shapes of the original design.

My first thoughts when I saw the pic of Kirk in the suit was "He looks more like Chekov in this picture. Oh wait, that's Kirk!". Spock looks quite good but a little girly. The viewscreen (or is it viewport now?) looks different from what I imagined. Just the other day I was thinking that it could be nice to have an SG Atlantis style heads-up on the ship, now they do. If you look closely, you can see it says B4.
