/\Sorry Bec,you seem to have been issued with one of those maps of the greater Dublin area, with the caption underneath that reads "Ireland".
There is life in the provinces,(not necessarily intelligent though).
As you do not state where in the Emerald Isle you are, that comment was uncalled for, anyway, isn't everyone living over there in Dublin as you all left because of lack of potatoes
Thanks for that, dimesdan! Last time I try to help someone out. However, on the same note, I know you didn't mean it in a bad way, but I didn't find the potatoes comment funny. Next thing you know, someone will mention leprechauns...
Leprechauns! I thought they were a welsh thing!

Anyway, I'm sorry for just a blatantly uncalled for comment, but it was just meant in jest and nothing more!

Wow. Someone thought leprechauns were Welsh!? We'd probably eat them all if they were. Nasty creatures with their temptations and thievery...possibly.

All British chain book stores, Borders, Books Etc, Waterstones (incorporating Ottakars) and WHSmith, have about a shelf and a half of Star Trek books
Dunno where you live, then; my local WHSmith has a lone copy of Kobayashi Maru, and the two branches of Waterstone's in my town have one Captain Kirk's Guide to Women between them!

(Always plenty of other tie-in stuff, though. S'only Trek that's sparse, in my experience.)
My WHSmith has pretty much zero science fiction, just a few Buffy books and a couple of Doctor Who novels. It's been a long time since WHSmith was my go to place for Trek. Luckily, being in Manchester, there's lots of good bookshops.

I was just again trying to make a joke! And just for the record I know they are Irish in origin

As for the Welsh...........

Iceman: What the heck are the Welsh?
Betsy Braddock: A quaint, little people just west of England, Iceman. Picture the Scots without the sex appeal or the Irish without the laughs and you've pretty much got them nailed.

After just finishing reading the Mere Mortals excerpt I'll definitely be getting the last 2 books in this series.
Well that one chapter is better than a lot of the books I've read recently. I'll be picking them up!

Destiny Mere Mortals excerpt

Read the excerpt for part two of Destiny at Simonsays and it makes me want the end of the month to come even faster (even if it means that winter gets here that much faster).

Very funny, although I quiet like the Vallies Welsh accent on women

Pah. We're much better than the Scots and less novel than the Irish.

And it's 'valleys' btw.

Eve Myles beats them all hands down (although before the unfortunate hair loss for Gail Porter, she was hot!)

I just wanted to let everyone know that Trekmovie.com has posted an excerpt from the second Destiny book: Mere Mortals.
Interesting conundrum. Because Worf saved Jadiza, Ezri gets a command but he couldn't. If he didn't, Jadzia still would have died, it'd just be a lot sooner, but he'd get a command. No wonder he's snippy.

You know what's funny? I just re-read the beginning of these posts, and almost have to laugh at some of the absurd comments, and yet realize one hint of irony: Amazon got it right! Their description for Gods of Night was spot-on. I really had thought that the Columbia picture blurb was just filler, but I guess I was wrong...don't matter...the story freakin' rocked! But it's funny how anxiety filled we were months ago...
